If you were to run a large TV event, which tables would you want to use and why?

Diamond - best manufactured, pockets are tight and look beautiful. Also consistent all the way round. I dont believe Metro tables should have been used at WC's because the rails are different sizes all round which means you have to cue differently when bridging off the rail.

For a large TV event I would say almost any reputable brand would be fine providing they are new with EPBF spec pockets and recovered with Simonis 860. If you had a choice of any table in the world it would be Diamond followed by Brunswick Gold Crown but the SAM Magno Pro is beautiful and along with Dynamic, Clash and Knight Shot they would be perfectly good choices.

I would highly recommend the Dynamic as an excellent choice of table from Dynamic Billiard, I did have the Olympic II table up untill recently and this was a superb table which is still currently used on the Eurotour. They have a new model out which is the Olympic III table which is very highly rated table which Dynamic billiards is supplying me to practice on,They use this latest model for the finals at the Eurotour and comes in either gloss black or a contemporary brown wood style. Anyone interested in this table is welcome to view the table at my home once it is set up at the beginning of January and can contact me via P'M regarding any enquiries regarding the tables that they can supply. Hey Pat Brunswick GC5 with Artemis K55 cushion rubbers, Simonis 860HR Tournament Blue cloth, Aramith "Tournament" balls and Magic racks Why?... because quite simply Brunswick tables are still the best in the business from my experience, and if you're going to have a TV tournament, then it's best to do it right and have it with the best equipment around. Doing anything half fast will get you knowhere jmho Willie ----------------- If ya got 'em, smoke 'em [ This message was edited by: TheWizard on 2012-01-01 20:44 ]

Are tha Knight Shot tables used for any events?

GCV's are still used in the WPC's, WTBC's, Philippine Open, and loads of other top events, Pat.
Diamonds are more popular because the company is willing to work with tournament directors & league operators, the tables are already set up when being delivered to the tournament venue and they have the tighter pockets with deeper pocket shelves, the wood construction used is solid wood and not MDF/plywood laminate.
The only problem I have with Diamond tables is their price and the lack of availablility to the EU market.
The only place in the UK I know of that has got a Diamond table is Vegas Sports bar, in Wakefield, that hosts the MMTV events.

Knighshot tables are like the new kid on the block. The tournament edition was recently used in the Sarajevo Open and there was great reviews from all the top players. They play similar to Brunswicks maybe better and are actually cheaper to buy. I know that they will be used at the forthcoming Eurotour in February together with the new Triple X cloth which is also a new brand on the market. Rodney Morris said it was the best cloth he had ever played on. Other top players including myself Mark Gray, Raj Hundal Neils Feijen also praised the cloth. Think we will see more Knighshot tables together with the Triple x cloth being used in Europe. [ This message was edited by: TheMaharaja on 2012-01-03 02:08 ]

Sounds good Imran, I saw some pics of Knight Shot tables yesterday on their wesite and they do look to be mighty nice tables indeed, perhaps the company will seek to find a UK-based dealer for their tables, cloth, etc? Fwiw, any table can be made to play as good or better than a Brunswick, so long as the one setting up the table knows what they're doing and which components to change, use, etc. I forgot about Daz's Diamond table in Barnsley, cheers Bazza. Diamond Tables would be popular here if they had the right marketing and were willing to offer price match deal against other competitors, with equivilent reputation, e.g. Brunswick, SAM, etc. Willie ----------------- If ya got 'em, smoke 'em [ This message was edited by: TheWizard on 2012-01-03 01:54 ]

I'm muddling my own words, of they are most popular here. The table at Vegas is flawless, not a single roll, play lovely and despite pockets being tight they are also fair. They give all other tables I've played on the 5 and the breaks (except Gold Crown). Olhausen and Murray are very good tables but the pockets tend to be massive on them, which is a shame.

Olhausen are trash and Murray are a solid table, the best thing is to have the pockets made tighter with double or possibly triple pocket facings.

I forgot to mention, another Brunswick table that is everybit as good as the Mtro or GCV, is the Centurion... they run at about 1/2 the RRP and would probably be easier to get sponsorship of, than GCV's, since it'd be more possible to have the tables sold to various potential buyers when the tournament is done I thought it would be worth mentioning, just to give an extra table option to choose from Willie
