Pings the rails up ...

Just have to clear this up. Sometimes when a person is under pressure their hands sweat so when they touch the cueball it causes clumps of chalk to stick to it. These clumps of chalk cause the cueball to ping off a rail . Now if you ensure the cueball is clean you wont get a ping.
My hands sweat more than most when under pressure so get more pings and have to make sure the cueball is clean quite alot. In my match against Daz i got a ping and so did he but once the cueball was cleaned it was fine again. Thats not the reason why i won the match i just played better than him. Spoke to Dave Morris and Johan Rujinsk about this and they understand the theory behind a ping. It is definately not a case of me doing something to the rails. Just had to educate everyone about this if they werent already aware.
Anyways am out of the tournament now good luck to Daz and rest of the Brits.

Its good to have the explanation out there Imran. There are products out there for sportsmen to take the moisture out of their hands, one of which I believe you tried previously (I use the same one for golf) but it was found to have the same effect if the substance came in to contact with the cue ball. So if I remember correctly that particular product was banned by the Euro Tour. Have you found an alternative product which you use to help with this or do you now just have to manage with the perspiring hands?

Just managing with perspiring hands at the moment trying to keep them as dry as possible. Have thought about wearing two gloves but dont want to be known as Strickland the second lol! Someone told me there is a special injection i can take but not too keen on that idea. It is an ongoing problem i have though and am open to any suggestions/ideas guys.

It's just not good when happens alot imran people are lead to believe your doing something pampering with the equipment .. Which is a shame because I like you as a person..

The pings didn't cost me but it just plays on your mind a bit.. But like you said u deserved to win the match I don't dispute that..

Anyway hope you get it sorted for future

Yes I try to touch any balls with the glove hand because that is the drier hand so the balls don't get wet. It's not exactly rocket science and it doesn't take a genius to work out. Wet cue ball will attract more chalk. Not trying to catch anyone out it is a genuine problem and am trying to get to the bottom of it.
