Hi guys, got back from Italy this afternoon.
A massive congrats to master Majid for a tremendous performance over in Italy! I had the pleasure of commentating on both semis AND the final and through my eyes in his last 2 matches Imran was the only winner!! He basically sussed the soft cut break better than anyone else (Nick van den berg not included) and that was the key to his success here. Some players refused to do the cut break because they feel its not the way 9ball should be played (Thomas Engert) but to be honest that was his downfall. Imran was virtually straight in on the 1ball every break and when your acheiving that success rate your always gonna take some beating!
My run ended in 9th place with a below par performance losing 9-8.
But even with Imrans great win asside, the brits really turned on the style this week and i was proud to be a part of it!!
Other players who should get a mention here are Andy Worthington and Kevin Uzzell who both needed to make it to the last32 KO stage to seal thier spots in the 2006 World Pool Championships in Manilla later in the year! Both these guys were under big presure to deliver here this week and both achieved thier goals.......to finnish in the top 28 ranked players on the Eurotour (automatic entry into Worlds).
But the final word has to go the Maharaja.......
.......super victory matey......you deserve this for all the time and effort you put into your game.

Well done Imran, a great result and well deserved. This is one of the toughest tournaments in the world to win. If Andy and Kevin have qualified for the WPC I am also delighted for them but I am a little puzzled, have they changed the rules this year in allowing the top 28 ranked players automatic qualification? It wasn't like that in previous years.

Great result for Imran and especially good with that run of matches! Looks like we will have a good turnout of UK players at the WPC again as well I didn't see that get announced anywhere about the top 28 qualifying though, but maybe I missed it I guess... Still waiting to see the source for the statement that the top 28 qualify for the WPC, any answers anyone?

Yes i am 100% sure that is the case!!
This was announced some time ago Peter....maybe 6 months ago at least.
I know Andy Worthington very well and i know one of his goals was to get in the top 28 on the Eurotour rankings.
Not a bad result in his first year hey?
