I see your points now Craig and understand them. Thats been my argument for only being paid back what you pay in at 1/4 final stage of some comps. In some comps you get less back than you paid in.

I think the advertising thing isn't right though. Reason why? Clubs are fighting to stay open and trade profitably as it is, without putting posters in a rivals club taking away their custom.

A few years ago I can picture clubs doing better financially and perhaps could afford to support each other. The only way advertising would work at all is to do a mini series in all the clubs in a county. That way every club gets a slice of the pie and it is fair game.

Maybe someone can offer Machine1 a club for a day and he can run an event?

i think one of the biggest problems in trying to organise pool comps here in britain is that the prize money is only usually made up of the entry fees

it should be a responsibility from the owners to add some money to the prize pot, after all they are taking everyones money over the bar so wouldnt hurt to put a little back in for the effort players make to attend their clubs

if pool comps had added money then i think we would see a better turn out of players

Correct mr jones !!!

32 players spending a score over the bar is 640, wouldn't hurt to add 100/200 of that obviously this is a rough estimate as each club have profit margins !!

Or

Club owners could guarentee prize money for instance guarentee 640 (32 player at 20) if 35 turn up add a % to the pot !!

yep im 100% sure thats why we dont see the turn out for comps that we should be, its not for the lack of players thats for sure
