If you don't play competitive then I see where your coming from,if you played gb9 or Sumat and took a big name out believe me it would mean something, when I beat mark gray,il happily admit I could have knocked a hamshank out in the manner I won, each to there own I suppose
Hahahahaha tbf Doc I think if I got a more than 1 rack off mark I would of jizzed over the 9! ----------------- You're Welcome

Am I missing something here? No mate your not missing anything I would play but that's because I don't play seriously. My only appearance on GB9 was in pro division so it's not about money or winning for me. Just having fun. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: DRM on 2012-06-01 13:21 ]

Nobody should be excluded, regardless of ability! With these £10 competitions why not have a "standard" handicap for each category? When a player who is a Cat 2 wins the event his handicap moves a rack more severe. If he wins enough times and shares the same handicap as a Cat 1 player as a result then he has in effect been promoted! This idea could be expanded upon to keep a track on players and ensure that they are in the correct category.

Meaning me andrew !! Open forum Andrew and that's my view. Also instead or running weekly comps for pittance where no body turns up and running double elim where players are in the club spending more that they win if they happen to win the event.
Run a decent event like riggers used to do at Barnsley ! Race 11/15 Single elim 20/40 quid entry
Riggers/Shirley use to generate 32/64 players easy and pool has got bigger now so no reason why u can't achieve this. All it takes is to be correctly advertised, artical on pool forums, posters dotted around in local pool rooms, pubs ad clubs, ad in local papers ..... All this generates interest and more interest means more players.

lol we run events bigger than that in past, like barnsley lol with decent entry fee still the same, And for the record people do turn up for the weekly events true sometimes a handfull but others 20 plus cant please everyone, and no it was not aimed at you personally jusy my take on things as you say an open forum.

When was the last time u run a ever with 32+ that har actually turned up ??? The british am 8 and 9 ball only had 20+ at the most. Not sure why this is tbh but something stopping people from playing events. And this isn't just in Vegas bar look at the Nottingham one yest 21 players.
No sure if the success with riggers and shirley in Barnsley Riley's was cos the tables we better or weather more contacts !!
Obviously I don't play as much as I once did and people ask why, tbh there nothing happening worth putting time in for.
I'm sure there are alot more players who share my views. End of the day players want good events

I dont see how a £10 double elim with races to 9 (or a 12-5 handicap) is that bad a deal Craig? I'd much rather gain experience playing £10-£20 comps than wait for one big event.
I do agree there should be some race to 15 single elim stuff, but when the dog has done that race to 21 double elim stuff, he didn't get the numbers it deserved! Liam did a £100 entry comp last weekend, theres stuff going on to suit different people. I wish I could get there more often...

No bazza your not getting my point, My point been there no runners and with the double elim comps went with 10-16 players your there all dag to win what ?? Nothing and would spend most of winnings in the pool hall keeping u watered and fed for the day
Single elim events 20 a man race 15 is the way forward in my eyes. U get a decent set of pool for a score. If u lose u can go home and not forced wait (spending money) for another match.

Craig you constantly pull events to pieces, give it a rest man barnsley better tables better run more contacts, I remember last singles event you ran there after 4 month of going backwards and forwards paying petrol spending money over the bar etc etc only for us all to get back what we paid in quality events, Yes riggers and daz ran good events only once or twice was they well attended, Daz ran pred 10ball guaranteed money about 18 entries i think if people stopped trying to pull comps to pieces then prob pool in the uk could move forward so negative its unreal say something nice for a change. No Andrew not pulling nothing just saying what I think events need to be more successful, better advertising, decent format etc.
I'm all for trying to get pool moving forward but there's a reason it's not and it's stale. Maybe too many little comps is taking the shine off decent events I don't no what I do no with correct advertising, format etc there's no reason why can't get a decent comp running.
