I just thought I'd let people know that if people are interested I have items for sale that I can bring to Barnsley this weekend to recover some of that money that I'll never see again! In respect of Dave and Pro 9 I can't mention what's for sale in the forum so if people would like to know, send me a private message. Also, if you're reading this Dave, I sent you a PM a few days ago asking what I should do in regards to the forum advertising rules but I haven't had a message back!

We had 3 players. It was a complete waste of time and for me, basically £49 when considering that I stayed overnight for it. It's the last time that I'm going to pay before the day for anything unless it's strictly pre-pay or no play, no double standards. Perhaps the solution is the pre-pay or no play and you can get a full refund if your not happy with the final player count. Depending on the event it could be a minimum of 16 or 32 players required before your option is withdrawn. That way a set prize fund would be guaranteed and if people decided not to show their entry would still be a part of the prize fund. What do people think?

PH I genuinely think the poor turnout is down to various factors that have all combined to bite you on the behind (and dent your wallet). Phil's tournaments have always been well attended so for this one, a side dish for the main course, to only have 3 participants doesn't surprise me that much. Put this event on at St Albans or MF's in maybe October and I reckon you get 25 at least - no dramas.

@ billiardbloke You're probably right but I still won't make this mistake again. If all events were pre-pay or no play then people would have only two choices! I have nothing but good to say about the work that Phil and Nicole put in this weekend and enjoyed myself but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pretty mad about the Sunday's play!

Phil I'm sorry about yesterday's turnout it wasn't for the want of trying. As you know we also lost out as we booked an extra night at the hotel for no reason. However I would like to offer you £20 off your next T9B event. Maybe make the trip down to an amateur series event at St Albans and let us show u a great event can't say fairer than that m8. @ wildman147 No worries Phil, I felt terrible for you and your partner more than anybody else. I'll have a look at the possibility of coming down to another T9B event down south but we will see! The £20 discount is very generous and will be much appreciated if I do decide to play an event.

That approach is not a bad idea and what I would probably do next time I run a local event. Its simply not worth the effort for the club or the organisor to arrange an event if the players are not going to support it. However, even with this approach people will be put off by the thought of having to pay in advance so I don't see you getting the numbers. Feel bad for Phil and Nicole because they put a lot of time and effort in. I spent the weekend at a 60th family birthday party, followed by a day in Snowdonia national park, followed by a brilliant time Sunday at Chester Zoo. Now ask me whether I would rather be doing that or stuck in the boozer playing or running a pool tournament.... err tough one lol.
