A bit of a shaky start for the Burf-meister, going 3-1 down to the EuroTour winner - then he runs 3 on the spin including a tasty B+R to switch the score to 4-3 in his favour.... And the good times continue with a stunning jump shot in the next rack... Malai must know this isn't going to be anything like a walk-over if he didn't suspect it before.

Phew, Phil is now 8-7 up!
I can't work out if this is a great match, or a terrible match... There seems to be flashes of inspired play, then some truly terrible misses. It DOES make for an interesting watch.
In particular, Phil snookered himself on a run out, and played a do or die percentage shot and kicked the most beautiful combo to stay on the table and win the rack. Shot of the match. Could have a highlights reel of this match full of great shots and howling misses.

Burf leading for only the second time in this match.
9-7 now.
Race to 11, rack-your-own with the Delta-13 triangle - Phil is already on the one-loss side, so he goes home if he loses this.

Nick Malai pulls one rack back for 8-9 - then scratches on his break giving Phil ball-in-hand.

10-8 to Phil with a well executed tough run-out.
Go on Phil.

Yes some good games today, and thats good because some of the games on the TV table so far would not have been out of place with a few lads having a laugh and a pint down the club, some have been shocking, and thats being kind !!, now it should be just the big guns on the main table, when Daz gets through he will play Hoffman or Reyes and thats a cert for the TV table.

A lot of the matches so far have been from the one-loss-side... We're back to winner's side matches now, so expect the standard to improve as the tourney progresses.

Toastie is leading 7-6 right now, but it could go either way.
Danny Diliberto is recovering in hospital - missing the first US Open since goodness knows when, but apparently the Docs have said he might be able to leave soon.

You say you can buy access for just $9.99 but I believe you can buy a day pass for just $5.95. I think this is for the daytime sessions, which will cover Darren's match
