Well, my summary after first days play.....

Every one of the Euroteam were suffering badly from Nerves and Pressure, all players seemed to be double/treble chacking them selves....very unsure all the time.

Europes best player was Neils by far, the only player who actually played his game.

USA in general looked the part, more confident and actually playing thier shots as they wanted to.....especially Van Boening!

USA best player was Van Boening, played all his shots as he would in any other event.

Way too many pots missed/mistakes made from Europe.

Hatch could be the difference for me.....great character....and player!.....great team player!

But, the last time i played, we were 1-4 down after first day, and ended up walking it 11-7......so shouldnt be no need to worry, as long as the lads stop making all those silly mistakes.

Long way to go yet.

Dazzler....looking for the lads to relax n enjoy it!

Anyone else sick of these dumb American commentators saying "oh - he got the shot"..or "he missed the ball"....we know whats happening ! were watching the darn thing! ...spoils it for me !.........BALLOOONS !!!!!

I disagree with that actually.

It's the commentators that have opinions that get on my fun-bags....whatever happened to simply giving words to the action? I'm close to hitting the mute button when the snooker's on purely because of Willie Thorne. He manages to write off a player before the balls have stopped rolling, usually because the player didn't play it as Ronnie or a 'Hendry in his prime' would've done. Surely these guys should be promoting the fact that one straight red can be played dozens of different ways instead of suggesting there is only one correct way of making a century. Yes, have expert pundits explaining the finer points to the viewer but beyond that shut up and let a commentator talk, let's enjoy what's happening, not what they should've done.

The only critisism, albeit a big critisism, I've got of the pool commentators is the seemingly lazy preparation of the player's correct info and the rules. I could listen to Jim, Jay and Jerry for days. The same can't be said of Andy Goldstein however...

I'd say to Barry Hearn, find a new Ted Lowe, not bring back Sid Waddell.

I think you'll never get the right commentator to please ALL the people... I, for instance, love listening to Willie Thorne on snooker as he seems so knowledgeable about shot selection, tactics and best percentage shots etc.

The Mosconi is a really exciting event, and that's just for the audience - for the players, especially with the unfamiliar "playing for your country/continent" thing going on it must be quite a trial, and I've heard people say that walking into the Mosconi arena with the audience all whipped into a frenzy is "like walking into a wall of emotion" for the players.

I think in the singles they will all be able to get back to normality and show the confidence, arrogance, and carefree attitude that has earned them all a World Championship title.

Either way, it's shaping into a great spectacle... Come-backs are far more exciting than white-washes anyway, and maybe I was a bit too cocky about our potential to dominate at this one.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EUROPE!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting is the format for tonight.

Match 6 - Doubles
Match 7 - Singles match (Cannot be the same player as Matches 3 and 5) and this player is picked by the opponent's captain.
Match 8 - Doubles match
(All players to have played once in Matches 6 to 8
Match 9 - Singles match (Cannot be the same player as Matches 3, 5 and 7)
Match 10 - Doubles match

With match 7 being picked by the opponent's captain (first time I remember this happening), does that mean they pick that before you are allowed to pick who you want to play in your first doubles. If not then Europe could pick Appleton and Hohmann in the doubles knowing that Feijen is the only player that can be picked for the singles leg, have I lost anyone yet.......

snooker comentary is on a "loop"...anyone who watches it regular will know this !......same crack ..same stories..every time - how many more times will we here "Hendry is the greatest middle pocket player" or "Ronnie is the most naturally talented player ever" or even "John Higgins is the greatest 'match player' ? .....snooker has become totally stagnant in my opinion ....hence the reason I have now taken up 9 ball for some form of adrenalin rush that I don't get from snooker anymore !.......

Now that one I do agree with Agentsoap!!!

My personal favourite is...."one of the game's great break builders", being spewed out when any player currently ranked in the top 89 makes a century.

I realise this isn't on topic...sorry peeps.

think this is why they picked Ralf yesterday - get his single out of the way - why else would they pick our best player?
