This is for any player that has played a eurotour at the venue for the upcoming EPC in North Cyprus, is the playing arena reachable by wheelchair players from the main hotel, via lifts etc, or is it up hill/slopes etc, as players want to make an informed decision as being asked to pay 40 euros each per player per day (10 days) to have someone from the hotel push them up and dwn hills, any info greatly appreciated.

as far as i can recall last year there was wheelchair access to the playing venue from the main hotel, i think the best way will be out the front of the hotel thru the car park into the building where the venue will be, from there there is a lift at the bottom of the stairs and the hall where the tables are is in front of you when you come out the lift on the first floor

maybe another player will be able to confirm this too

Are the rooms in the hotel suitable for wheelchair users? Also is the route you mention flat or does it have a steep incline?

Seriously? Are you just referring to getting out and about in town after playing or are you referring to getting around the venue to be able to play your matches? If the latter then surely the organisors of this event have a duty to make the place as comfortable and accessible for wheelchair players as it is for able bodied players.

Riggers
They were the only bidder so were stuck
We will be stuck in the venue hotel as it's on the side of mountain
The 40 per day was to get around the hotel facilities !

Yeah pretty sure you're right Richard. Out the front entrance turn right then through the carpark to tournament building then catch lift to 1st floor.

That can't be right. They put on a major event specifically with a wheelchair division and then want to charge you extra to get around the venue. Are they charging able bodied people extra too? I would be furious.

I would think there is enough revenue in this event for the organisors to be able to invest in a solution to make our wheelchair players comfortable and allow them to participate alongside their able bodied colleagues without having to be charged extra for the priviledge.

Hi tony unfortunately the restaurant is not in the main hotel its a couple minutes walk, its serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as a buffet service

The hotel is a resort, the town is 10 mins away by car so pretty much stuck there, casino on sight for entertainment

We played in october and wasnt much to do then but april maybe different

thanks indiana it is a big hill to get up and down to restuarant, w-chair players only want to be able to get from main hotel (if they put us there) to venue and to eat, you know some of us guys, would it be a problem, how steep an incline do you think ?

Yeah I'm pretty fed up with the whole thing I accept it must be a logistical nightmare to meet everyone's needs, but I'm more disappointed with the lack of support to try and find a solution. The only solution the organisers have come up with is for individual players to pay €40 per day to hire a personal helper. Sorry the other alternative is don't go lol. Sad really cos this event over the years has lead the way with regards to disability equality in sport but I defiantly feel it's took a step backwards this year.
