Hi All,

Us guys up North were having a chat the other day about running a mini mosconi cup, home and away for a bit of cash against some teams from around the country.

Anyone interested in putting a team together for a home and away game for say £100 a man?

We can discuss the format/stake/teams etc to make sure everything is fair and as close as possible to a 50/50 game, as we have a whole variety of players up here to choose from.

If anyone fancies doing a Mini Mosconi, home and away against Vegas Sports Bar, then let me know on this thread and we can sort something out!

Doesn't necessarily have to be 5 players, can be more or less, im sure someone will want to play. Not just all about the money but a good weekend away with lads and some good pool action!

Surely someone can put up a team vs the below...

Possible Players

North

Cat 2
Arfan Dad
Chris Hall
Michael Rhodes
Mat Lawrenson
Mark Lunn
Dave Nelson

Cat 3
Alex McElhatton
Elliot Sanderson
Jamie Yates
Jason Murgatroyd
Gibbo
Mark Singleton
Sam Hirst

Cat 4
Ant Banham
Craig Spencer
Del Sim
Harris Ali
Kam Singh
Lee Hart
Lee Speight
Liam Waterworth
Murray Pryzbyl
Nicky Hayes
Tony Pyne

Cat 5
Brad Parker
Barry Briggs
Dave Kelner
Dave Hancock
Danny Byrne
Nav Hussain
Simon D'Vali

Think us Southern softies could rustle a few names together. Me, rolly, Cooney, Fordy, Welchy, Janszy, Rich Main.

Also, another question....

Would there be a handicap system, whereby each team must have x number of Cat 2's, Cat 3's, 4's and 5's etc? Obviously, everyone would want to watch Lunny, Arfan, Lawrenson, Rhodes, Hall against the cream of the southern talent, and i hope that can be arrange as that would be class.....

I just thought if the lower players are going to be playing, and you have say 5 players, you must have at least 1 from each cat? If you get my drift?

Yes Danny the Morley v Vegasbar game will be going ahead as planned. All going to plan we should be able to sort out some streaming or at least get some matches recorded for youtube.

Yes pal, see if you can get a team together who are willing to play then we will sort out dates/format/players etc!

No handicap system byrne, just even match ups agreed by the captains, if it takes off and we get lots of people wanting games maybe we could make some sort of system? We have the players of all ranges of play up here, so we could match pretty much any amateur team I reckon.

Is our "Captain" of Team Lester classed as a Southern Softie or hardened Northerner as has done at least 1 winter season up T'North?

Doesnt have to be north v south Paul, you can have Andy if you want :)

Harty, I dont want to put a team out and ask for challengers, as then everyone will be on my case for not choosing them! The easiest way is to let someone like Paul to round up a team and us match it standard wise, as i said think we can match pretty much any amateur team.

As I said in original post, it doesnt have to be 5 players, can be as many as we decide.

Good luck with this guys. Regarding timings for a 5 man Mini Mosconi, the format we used for the Rack n Roll vs Solihull worked ridiculously well for a one dayer on 2 tables. PM Thief if you're interested I'm sure he'll send you it, even it's just for reference.

Cheers Ben, will send him a message. Was only thinking of doing 1 table to add to atmosphere, but like you say, just for reference if nothing else.

Cheers

Long day if travelling up/down playing all day then travelling back so an overnight may work that way not pushing matches to finish quickly.

Yeah mate, suppose all that will depend on how many players, how much we play for and what format we choose...

Nice one Nelly. Waiting on replies from the Leicester lot, and Team Lester, then we're cooking with gas!
