So I've recently been told that kamui's play better if you leave them long so I had it done and it takes a bit of getting used to and regular burnishing but overall the speed and spin control is far easier. Using the Kamui .98 chalk as well is awesome btw (if you can get out of the 1 shot 1 chalk routine!!)
Just wondering what's the general consensus on this? Long or short. Personal experience?

I've been using a Kamui Black SS for a couple of months now along with the Kamui 1.21 chalk. IMO they work fantastic together!!
I always take my tips quite short ( approx 3 layers) which is a bit of a waste as they are fairly expensive but i have always done this with tips it's what i feel comfortable with.
As for burnishing i did this a couple of times when i first fitted it but I've not had any trouble with the tip mushrooming out at all.
The routine of not chalking up as often did affect me at first but soon got used to it, even though i use 1.21 i do find chalking once does last a complete rack runout.

Less layers - more feeling, harder spin More layers - less feeling, easier spin I play my tips inbetween, IMO the reaction comes from the layers.

Cheers guys I'm thinking I'll take it down a couple as I'm having trouble cueing off the rails with the longer tip but good to know dazza that taking a few layers off doesn't affect performance. Like anything it's personal practice but I'm always up for trying a bit of innovation to improve play.

I've never miss-cued whilst using this combination of tip and chalk etc so give it a try [ This message was edited by: -Dazza- on 2012-07-03 15:12 ]

Chalking once per rack with Kamui 1.21 is nuts IMO. The feel off the first shot is much softer than the feel off the last shot. I want an accurate feel that's the same all the time so it's no good for me unless I can afford to chalk it every shot. If you don't care about the shot feeling different depending on how much chalk is left then good luck to you.

I agree Riggers the first shot is softer than say the 6th shot but it doesn't really affect me as i get the reaction i want from the cue ball. I haven't as yet tried the 0.98 so i'm now intrigued just how different this is?? Maybe time to visit the Pro Shop and order some of this Alpha stuff so i can freeze it
