Flying with emirates in the next six weeks and was wondering if anybody knows if you can take cues and case on as hand luggage or if they have to be put in the hold.

The law says you definitely can't, as a pool cue could be used as a pretty handy weapon, and they have been enforcing this quite rigourously since 9/11.

I have heard of the odd time when people have got away with it recently, but as a rule I would be prepared to put your cues in the hold along with all the other baggage.

The best solution is a cricket bag type holdall for your clothes which is long enough for your cue case to fit inside. This way you don't pay for carrying additional sports equipment and it's also less likely to get lost in baggage handling. Ideally you will have a hard cue case which will protect it while it's inside a soft cricket bag.

Agree with Riggers, did this when travelling to Holland & Vegas and with the exception of my bag being ripped to shreds when i got back (the cues were still fine in a hard pred case) i had no issues

I had a golf type one for the epc but it was torn to shreds by KLM, I then invested the insurance money in one I saw advertised on here, from kozoom
store.kozoom.com/uk/us_pool/karma-competition-billiard-travel-bag.html

expensive like, but really good

It's precisely because of the "shredding" type comments above that I think a hard shell suitcase provides best protection, but the trick is to find one big enough to accommodate a cue case inside it diagonally. Can be done though.

I have a Samsonite hard shell suit case which can accommodate a soft cue case diagonally. A hard case is always 4-5 cm longer then a soft case, so the soft ones just fit!

Just tried my case and just fits diagonally in my suitcase but suitcase has semi hard back and soft front so i'll have to pack it out with my clothes and fingers crossed nowt happens to it.

Is that the one you use for your magic act Si? Where you take all the cues out then open the sdide and Chelle jumps out looking like Debbie McGee?

Looks more like an amp than a case. It certainly goes to 11.

The round brown case in the background looks a monster too...
