Hello all. I am new to the forum so I figured I would introduce myself. My name is Shane Sinnott and I work for OB Cues in Plano, Texas. I am originally from Dublin and moved to the USA in 1993 when I was 24 and have been here ever since. I have been in the Billiard Industry since 1996 when I joined Predator Cues and worked with Predator as Sales Manager for almost 8 years and then left to start my own Billiard Business. I sold that business after 5 years and then went to work for a couple of different Billiard Distributors in the US and then joined OB Cues on January 2nd of this year. If anyone has any questions about our products or American Pool Cues in general, I will be happy to do my best to answer. I have enjoyed reading the threads on here so I figured it was time to actually sign up and post something! DRM, I don't have the Platinum data saved on this machine but I know I have it archived on one of my old PC's in the garage Will try and dig it up for you. Did you have any specific questions about the Platinum Tests? Nothing specific but I know there was some interesting articles you used to feature and there's a few people on here that I'm sure would like to see there are other low deflection cue options to predator If you had an updated one with the latest LD shafts such as the OB Classic and Classic Pro that would be very useful ----------------- [ This message was edited by: DRM on 2012-06-13 23:47 ]

Hi Shane, Thanks for joining our forums and providing an opportunity to get info direct from the horses mouth so to speak, and actually, I DO have a question or two, here's the first one, could you answer this please... How long does it take to make an OB shaft, and how did the idea for the complicated lamination design come about? I'm mean these shaped layers... Dave, Good questions! Length of time. There are approximately 7 weeks of machining and assembly time, not counting rest and curing times. We start a batch every week, so we not only finish a batch every week, but we work on 7 batches all at the same time, just at different stages. Design origination. The original cloverleaf method of construction came from Don Owen. Don is the 'O' in OB Cues and one of the owners. He had been intrigued by overlapping circles for a long time, and had made a couple of cue shafts like this and was happy with the results. Royce Bunnell, the 'B' in OB and the other owner had already been building cues as a hobby, and had ideas for how to build them more easily. We moved to the laminated maple over solid maple because of the stability, consistency, and even moisture content. We spent a couple of years trying various combinations of shaft assembly methods, ferrule design, and materials before we came up with what we now call the OB-1. Hope this helps!
