I have bought a second hand 9ft Sam k Steel pool table recently. My pool room is now complete and the table is built and levelled. When the fitter took the old cloth off the rails he told me the rubber needed replacing .. mainly because the table has been in storage for such a long time.
My question is : what size should i get the new pockets cut to? ( i had intended getting the original rails shimmed- but now that the complete rubber is being replaced i think i have better options??)

Congratulations on getting something sorted that every player dreams of - good luck.

World's best rail rubber... Artemis

Artemis ThickShims

Pocket size... That's really up to you isn't it? You'll still probably need thick end facings. What do you fancy, and what do you want from your table... Nothing but hard practice that sharpens your game, or fun recreation with a few friends?

Hope this helps!

Search "extending subrail" or "subrail extension" on AZ billiards if you want to do it better than just shimming

The suggested guidelines and exact pocket measurements you will find under this link:
http://www.wpa-pool.com/web/WPA_Tournament_Table_Equipment_Specifications
However, this is sooooooooooooooo very old.
I may tell you that nowadays, at the European Championships and, I suppose, at the EuroTour the following pocket sizes are used:
Corner 11 cm
Middle 12.5 cm
with a maximum tolerance of -/+ 1.5%)
Hope this helps as well !!!

Pockets look nice. But you go to all that trouble to upgrade your table and then put red cloth on it? Unbelievable Jeff :)

I have just been in touch with the suppliers of Jeff's burgundy cloth and they have just sent me this video of them cutting the cloth ready for dispatch to Ireland,

http://youtu.be/G6LnDrC-u4w

The Lads couldn't get the order out quick enough apparently! This roll has been knocking around gathering dust for years! lol

They nearly cocked the order up and sent the purple cloth out instead as they so shocked somebody had placed an order for the burgundy :-P

Luckily they realised in time and the correct colour went out, They have 97 metres available of the 100 metre roll if anyone wants the same cloth!

Well I'm sure Man Utd players could see their colleagues dressed in grey that season but it doesn't mean Fergie would be daft enough to allow that strip again ;)

Looks kind of cool actually. Must be a nightmare to get blue chalk out of though? If it had Coca-Cola down the middle I would say very different...lol
