hello everyone im sure most of you are aware that in the last few months we have been trying to form a federation, this comes as a direct order from the ebpf as other countries have queried as to why Britain has no official federation and our lack of participation at european championships now why we all know the main reason which is players funding themselves with no prize money on offer, but unfortunately it is a responsibility that each nation has to send participants to each european championships i cannot stress enough how important it is for Britain to have a federation, the bottom line being that without a federation then NO british players will be allowed to compete at any EPBF or WPA sanctioned events and in turn no mosconi cup during last weeks eurotour myself who is acting president and vice-president daryl peach had a meeting with the epbf and the good news is that our paper work for the federation has been accepted we now have one more thing to complete which is the first general meeting which will take place at the next gb9 event, here anyone is welcome and at this meeting we will elect the board officially and invite anyone that wants to be a board member where you will have voting rights on all issues regarding the federation in the future another important thing is that the federation will need as many player members as possible, without members then the epbf will not accept our application so i urge all players in britain to join the FEDERATION, this will be a free membership this year unless you are playing in any epbf or wpa events i hope every player understands the full significance of what im saying, if you want to join the federation then please send your details to the following email address dickiesdoubles@yahoo.co.ukall i need is: NAME ADDRESS D.O.B PHONE NUMBER EMAIL ADDRESS all the details regarding the federation will be presented at our first general meeting 13th july at the gb9 tour before play starts on friday around 3pm in the mean time myself or daryl will be happy to speak with anyone that has any questions regards richard jones [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2012-04-25 13:07 ]

Great news for the whole british pool scene, well done to Richard and Daryl, just to note to all the players who are register members of BWPPA, there is no need to submit for details as I have done this for all players, as a condition for our association being linked into this and in turn to EPBF.
Thanks
Tony Southern BWPPA Secretary

Just being devil's advocate for a second, what are the fees likely to be next year, and have BPF and GB9 had any contact/discussion yet?

I am not sayng that this new organisation is bad thing as Richard and Daryl are both sound guys. But I am intrigued why it is a necessity. Why is the GB9 Tour still not fulfilling this important role. Surely, as the primary promoter of events in the UK this should be sufficient for them to hold the reins and control what happens. They publish a Ranking List which simply has no meaning unless it is used by a third party. No doubt (as Mark points out) they will be giving 'the working together' scenario but all that seems to be created is another level of politics, which like the previous David Morris' sham organisation does not promote the events. Could the new 'federation' not have come from within the inside of GB9?

It stops a bias that we know in the past the GB committee has had over certain individuals. The tour is great for UK 9 ball, but at times is run like it's Lee Rigby's baby and this is not very professional at times, if Mr Rigby doesn't like certain players, my good friend god rest his soul Mark lovell raised these issues on more than 1 occasion and i have read of other players on here having the same issues with Lee Rigby, not saying he doesn't do a good job, just think it's biased at times and a new organisation can prevent this and get the best for the players. Bulldog, if you have any issues that you wish to discuss with the GB9 committee then can I please ask that you do so privately and not on a public forum? Just to clarify, Lee Rigby is not part of the GB9 committee but is employed by the tour as a Tournament Director and IMHO he does a fantastic job of it. ----------------- Andy Warden, GB9 - Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor √ [ This message was edited by: cueman on 2012-04-27 21:01 ]

Pool players are competitve by nature and power is a pretty heady drug. It is inevitable that one man's favour is another man's penalty. So it is not too far a deviation from normal human behaviour if Lee acts in this manner. I was similarly inclined when I ran the forerunner Pro 9 tour. Certain players were given more opportunities than others but the reason for this was that these favoured players were chosen because of their ability to project an image of the game that helped me to develop it in the way that I wanted. But I never made any secret of it. Well over 60 players from the UK have had a chance to play in the World 9 and 8 Ball Championships. So this policy ultimately gave a lot more people that opportunity.

But I still do not see the need for two organisations with similar agendas ruling over a very small turf. All this just to Kow Tow to a European body that is a shell organisation for a commercial entity that uses the Federation status to further the objectives of their money spinning venture. It is significant that this week I heard that Marcin Krzeminski was thrown off the Board of the EPBF. The likeable Pole has done a tremendous job of popularising the game in his homeland and a score of other Eastern bloc countries and was becoming a threat to the commercial well being of the Eurotour. Now three of the EPBF Board are on the payroll of the ET. Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to belong to an organisation to enter WPA Championships and other major events.

A player can go to the qualifiers of most WPA events, do well enough to get WPA ranking points. This keeps them in the subsequent tournaments. Mika, Thorsten amd probably Darren have taken this route. So is all this worthwhile just to become a part of this flawed organisation. Better to take a look at what Marcin and even pub pool’s Morray Dolan’s new 8 ball tour have achieved. Or better stlll, grow the game here again and make the UK the ‘Engine Room of the Game’ . Then we won’t have this Too Many Chiefs and not Enough Indians scenario

Doug - I can assure you Lee doesn't act in that manner! This guy that hides behind a screen name and posts lies doesn't even play the game. Its just another attempt by the minority to tarnish my name and the good name of GB9. If he wants to reveal himself and discuss his concerns with me privately then I will be glad to listen. I get asked on a weekly basis what GB9 is like and my answer is the same each time... "So professionally run"
