Do you think they will raise enough to make a significant difference? I wish them luck, but the figures you quote aren't promising. Players need salary sized sponsorships in my opinion.

Hi BigDave Yeah, I also still wish them luck  But I don't really think it's gonna help at all. In German we have the saying "like a drop on a hot stone". I think that is a good metaphor. In real sports organisations companies that donate 1K are maybe named somewhere in the booklet, IF they are named anywhere! Usually they even don't want ANY publicity or ads. Marco

We have a very similar phrase, "a drop in the ocean" it obviously means exactly the same - at least someone is trying something though.
I think an article that researches all the different ways pool players are sponsored around the world, and what that sponsorship is worth would be a real eye opener, but most are pretty secretive about who pays and how much.
For instance, how are the players in Philippines, Japan, China, Taiwan sponsored, because they can't all afford to pay their own way. Even the level of sponsorship of the top UK players is a bit of a mystery really.
