So...what's gone off here then? Aslam's posted a pretty strong statement on good 'ole FB about non-payment. Surely this can't be true???

Anybody in the know?

I suspect there is more to the story but it sounds bad.

there is more to it, a few months ago, we arranged a money match and we shook hands in front of witnesses and said that if 1 of us pulled out for any reason, he would pay the other one £200, aslam pulled out and would not pay me the £200, today was my chance for revenge, i had the £250 with me, and hoped that before the match aslam would acknowledge his error and we could come to some arrangement, but he did not even mention it, and so i then got even, as i told him after the game, i'm not one to be messed around with, and if anyone does not believe me, several of the BWPPA guys witnessed the deal and were also disgusted that he welched on it, and have told me so, and when i have told them about today, they were made up i did that, as they have been warning me about previous dealings with money and aslam.

now on face book he says the cancellation was due to reasons other than said at the time, story changes like the wind

i'm done with him now, making me out to be a liar and thief on Facebook

the thread is here, bits of it i deleted as felt sorry of him, but now i find out it was all just BS

i am even with him now, if he takes it like a man we can move on, but i doubt he will

Sad state of affairs.

For the record, Aslam has always been spot on with me both morally and financially.

Its a shame for grievances to come out in public. Now I would never allow that to happen with any of my grudge matches lol

Its a shame that someone should bring this up on a public forum. This is an issue between Tony and Aslam and is up to them to sort it out.

No i wasnt having a go at you Tony, I think your in the right mate. What I thought was wrong was someone else starting a forum on it to stir things up when it should have been left to you and Aslam to sort out

So essentially you played a "money game" knowing that if you lost you still wouldnt lose anything. I remember reading the initial thread and you acknowledged exceptional circumstances and therefore i believe dismissed the idea of a cancellation payment (the right decision).
As soon as you both hit the ball for the lag thats it the money doesnt belong to anyone until the end regardless of previous dealings you are both agreeing to the terms of the game by hitting that ball.

Was it Simon D'vali who was knocking up a bad action list? This is the sort of thing that needs avoiding

just had text apology off aslam, and I've done same in return, we have moved on, and to put the last poster straight, if i'd have won today, i would have only taken the £170 owed, either way aslam was going home with 80
that defo is my last on this

....and a good action list. Celebrate the good guys too.

I don't know enough about the above to comment, I do however think its a case of not laying out the ground rules explicitly. There is a difference of opinion and these arrangements are mostly ambiguous at best. If you don't specify the terms explicitly, they are open to interpretation and these horrible scenarios are played out.

Real shame. We just don't know how to gamble properly over here. Perhaps its the one thing we could actually learn from the Americans (Dave Peat excepted  )

Should leave the money games to the misters.
Debates like this are no good for pool.
The 2 players involved no the score and should be left to them
2 to resolve.

Just to explain why I asked on here Mark, I wasn't trying to stir it up whatsoever. I wouldn't normally start a thread on anything like this (in fact, I think this is only the 3rd thread I've ever started).

My rationale was that Tony started the original thread on the challenge a couple of months back that in my opinion should have stayed between the players. He chose to put the subject to a public forum therefore I felt more than happy doing likewise.

Anyway, glad they've sorted it now.
