Buckmaster makes Impact in T9B Amateur Event

Total9ball Amateur Event 2 took place at St Albans Hurricane Rooms on Saturday 12th November 2011. There were 24 entries to this event. The T9B Amateur Series guarantees each entrant a minimum of three matches with all players competing in one league, the top 8 players are seeded against the next 8 in the Last 16. It was great to see some new faces in the draw as well as the continued support from our regular players. Matches began at 10.45am, five players managed to escape the league stages undefeated they were Darren Saxby, Shaun Storry, Mark Parker, Jazz Bamotra and Finlay Laing and these players were therefore 5 of the 8 seeds for the Knock-out stages however Finlay was the only player to make it through to the Quarter Finals beating Mark Hughes 7v4.
Chris Buckmaster began todays tournament with back to back wins against last weekends tournament winner Alex Kontaroudis 7v3 and against new player to T9B Steve Williams 7-4. Chris was beaten in his final League match 7v5 by Alan Coton but it was only a matter of minutes later the rematch began as Chris drew Alan in the Last 16. This time Chris reversed the form winning 7v4. Tom Staveley snuck through the league stages only winning one of his three matches. Tom beat Phil Wildman 7v4 in the Last 16, this was the same score as when Wildman beat Staveley in the very first match of the day. After the match Phil praised Tom 'Stability' Staveley for some fantastic jump shots and some great pressure dishes during the match.
Chris Parker produced result of the round beating Shaun Storry 7v5 and Ramesh Gokhul battled back from 6v3 down to beat Jaspal Balmotra 7v6.
In the Quarter Finals Chris Buckmaster ended last seasons Amateur Series Champion Ramesh Gokhul's tournament with a good 7v3 win. Tom Staveley produced some top pool beating Kev Kelleher 7v0. The other matches in this round were won by current rankings leader Luke Rollison and Courtney Symons from Cambridge.
The first Semi Final to finish was Symons against Rollison with Symons running out an impressive 7v2 winner, the other Semi between Chris Buckmaster and Tom Staveley was a lot closer... in fact it went all the way, Chris must of thought it was game over when Tom potted the 8 ball unfortunately for Tom he landed the white close to the rail and missed the final 9ball therefore Chris advanced.
Courtney had to withdraw from the Final as his traveling companion had to work, therefore the trophy and the tournament was awarded to Chris Buckmaster.

Player of the Day:- Tom Staveley (a slow start but great performances during the Knock-Out stages)
Results of the Day:- Chris Parker 7v5 Shaun Storry

Initial handicap changes for Event 3... some are still being considered

Kev Kelleher to 0
Greg Lepski to 0,
Ant Illingworth to 0,
Steve Williams to +1,

All results, Rankings and player stats have now been updated on www.t9b.co.uk

Thanks to St Albans again for playing great host, to Nicole for great organisation of the tournament, and to all the players for your continued support of Total9ball Events.

Next Total9ball event is... The Championship Of The Nation Event 1 Saturday 26th November limited places still available. The draw for this event will be made live at GB9 on Saturday Evening.

I tell you what, Phil's doing a great job here, knocking out top tournaments, well organised, with smashing posters, and a terrific report and photo too!

I'm sure everyone tells you anyway, but top job fella.
