24-hour pool marathon is being held today in Leicester to help raise funds for roller-skater Leah Williams.
The 13-year-old from Aylestone will represent Great Britain at the Cup of Europe in France on October 31, but is struggling to meet the £1,000 travelling costs.
The pool players are holding their marathon challenge at Rileys Q Bar in Charles Street, Leicester, today. The 24-hour event will start at 12noon and they hope to raise money through sponsorship.
Williams booked her place in France by winning three gold medals at the British Artistic Roller Skating Championships earlier this year.
The Abington High School pupil triumphed in the figures, free and combined events in her age-group.
Williams is a member of the Empress Roller Skating Club which trains at Aylestone Leisure Centre, and her club-mates Courtney Lee and twins Tia and Mariam Sylla are also heading to France to compete for GB.
Williams' father, Mark, said: "All the parents involved struggle to fund the girls throughout the year in various competitions around Britain, so this trip is a struggle for any of us to afford without fundraising."
He added "Hopefully people will turn up to Q Bar and support us."
For more information, contact Q Bar on 0116 253 9624.

Well I'm not quite over the effects of the 24 hour marathon yet but a jolly good time was had by all.
Thanks to those who popped in and supported the event, especially Barry French and his good lady wife, who were happy to take part in some good spirited banter!
A final total hasn't been calculated yet but early indications seem to put the total raised at around £800 so thanks for all the donations.
