Rileys QBar in Leicester (LE1 1FA) are running a 9 Ball singles league starting on Monday 24th October 2011, limited to the first 16 paid entries.

Played in two groups of 8, with the top 4 from both groups going through to a 'Champions League' KO and the bottom 4 entering into a 'Europa League' KO, £10 entry fee covers you for the duration of the league and gives you free tables for league matches.

Entrants will also receive Rileys 'Team Member' benefits - 20% off bar and food at any time and 50% off tables at all times - and the league will conclude on 20th December.

Prize Fund:

Champions League:

Winner: £70
R/up: £30
3/4th: £25 Rileys Vouchers

Europa League:

Winner: £40
R/up: £20
3/4th £15 Rileys Vouchers

Entry fees: £160

Total payout: £240

Forgot Rack n Roll league is the same night so may not be able to play. What time does it start/finish and what is the format?

Sorry for the delay in replying!

The league is being run on Monday nights now due to the Rack 'n' Roll league being played on a Tuesdays and players seemingly wish to enter both leagues.

The group stages will be a random draw of 8 players per group, playing each player once in a race to seven racks.

Start times will be either 1930 or 2100 and as much as possible, these times will be alternated each week so if you play at 1900 on week, chances are you'll be playing at 2100 the week after!

Once the group stages are done and the KO draws are done, the matches will increase to a race to 9 racks all the way to the finals.

The first stage of the KO's will be on Monday 12th December when the 1/4 finals are played, 'Champions League' at 1930 and 'Europa League' at 2100.

Monday 19th December will see the semi finals of both the 'Champions League' and 'Europa League' KO's played at 1900 and both finals will be played at 2100 and the league will then conclude and prizes paid out ( and spent at the bar! ) accordingly.

:)

If I can give some feedback, a race to 6 will take at the most an hour but typically around 45-50 minutes. Surely you could do groups at 7.30 and 8.30? Its a bit earlier and keeps people playing. Or increase the races to 7?

After some learned advice, the league will now run as a 'race to seven' racks.

Thanks again, Barry :)

After much consideration, I'm chucking my tenner in the pot and seeing if I can find a rack cue with a sprinking of magic in it!

Sadly, due to us not being able to get 16 entrants, the league has had to be postponed.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and those players who have already paid their entry fees can naturally pop into the club for a full refund at their earliest convenience.

We will look again at the viablity of a singles league in a few weeks' time.

:)
