The match !!!

First of all I wanna thank Andy and the Vegas bar staff for holding the match - Vegas bar was proved again why it's the best pool room around !!

Then I want to thank both my supporters and lees supporters for showing both players respect through out the match (couple of hiccups but that was always going to happen the later the match went on)

I want to congratulate lee on a great performance, he set off into a 6-0 lead and missed a 9 to go 7-0 (thank god ha) and I'm sat thinking to my self here we go !!
I then managed to get back at him for him to kick on again going 17-11 up- at this point I'm thinking I need to get as close as I can for the break !!
Then the mini bus turned up with the team then I hit a gear and go infront !! I go into the break 25-22

Up when really I should have capitalized on me having the momentum !!

Then it was all I was 2 up he was 2 up all the way to lee going 4 clear at 40-36 (i think) then I kick on again! Eventually going on the hill -46 !! Lee then decided to play flawless again finally edging me out 50-49 :-( I had half a chance in the last 5 racks and that wAs with ball in hang in the final rack and I elected to stretch rather than play with the rest as I no I am weak with it !! Then I in control of a tactical battle, lee kicks out pots a 3 off 2 other s and he has the advantage ab takes it !!

We both had rolls we both missed balls we both played well !!

I enjoyed the match and think we did our selves proud !!!!

Me and lee shook hand before the match, at the break and after the match !!

Not at all pal, I couldn't get a lift to Daventry to play him on the night of GB9.

I treat the money I use for money matches like a business. I've took two hits losing £500 to Nicky Hayes and losing £150 to Andy Warden, so I need to attempt to build that back up by playing more even games, then I can take a shot at a better player when I'm rolled to do so...

I'm just being sensible with the limited cash I have. Navs a favourite against me and Andy beat me last time so you can argue he is too, but they're much more marginal than someone who's attended bootcamp in Holland and has probably forgotten more than I know :)

Anyway, this is yours and Craigs thread and Im glad the match was played in good spirit.

Ads, I'm not ducking you just getting my priorities right. I'll donate to you in due course, be patient :)

Nice summary that Craig and I didn't know much of those scores until you said. I was so lost in the drama of it the only scores I can remember are 6-0, 44-49 and 50-49 lol.

On reflection, if it's possible to be disappointed after winning a match like this I'm disappointed I didn't kick on and win by 4 or 5 racks when I had the chance. Why did I have to wait until the last 6 racks to focus properly and play the right shots?

And of course Craig will also be kicking himself because he too showed he has 'gears' (as Eric rightly predicted), played some great stuff in the middle of the match and had the chance to finish me off.

At the end of the day what we both showed is that its a close match up and we can both play great *some* of the time so now need to work out how the the devils playground you do it *all* or *most* of the time like Appleton and co. This is what's fascinating about a race to 50 because you go through so many emotions and ups and downs and you need to learn how to deal with them and find a game when things go against you.

At the end of the day, win or lose it was a great game to be involved in and I'm glad the silly side of it is behind us now.

well done lads 50-49 is just amazing nobody deserves to lose that..

in a long race like that no excuses can be made mistakes are going to happen and both players going to get chances ....the odd roll here and there can be forgotten about...end of the day both players will look back and see what they could have done better...

well done lee big effort from 49-44 i thought it would be close but not that close lol
