so Imran, at the moment you are saying no GB players have paid thier fees ?, does that mean that the usual Etour players and WC plays, gray, daz, jason, karl, you, peach, etc cannot play 2016 events as things stand ?

If GB9 had known previously about any doubt of BPF not funding players for EC's then we would have offered to pay for the spots in 2017 rather than the £1.5k ranking incentive that we will be paying at the end of the 2016 season, providing BPF let us pick the players from our rankings of course. ----------------- Andy Warden, GB9 - Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor √ [ This message was edited by: cueman on 2016-01-12 01:01 ]

Yes as it stands none of us can play 2016 events unless paid up.

Our ultimate aim is to obtain government funding so we can send players not just to the EC but to other international events aswell. We would also look at improving and assisting the wheelchair and youth structures aswell.

We have some very good funding organisations here in the UK for example Sport England and the Princes trust. I was reading on the Sport England forums that a Chess club were granted £100,000 to refurbish there chess club. I mean Chess...lol!! Is that actually a sport. Surely American Pool has a chance then. Also a Rugby club ( not at National level) got 50k to fix their boiler! The bigger our player base is at the end of the day...The greater chance we have for obtaining funding. This is why it is essential for us to join forces and work together. I am sure we will form some kind of unity but just need to pull our finger out and get things rolling!!

Sorry my mistake. After conferring with the board the invoice just paid was for the 2016 season. So yes we can participate in events this year.

Not sure that most of the public think about pool as they think about chess. Chess is seen by the public as a sport played by intelligent people with problem solving minds and quite often in shirts and maybe even a tie while sipping a glass of water. Pool is seen by the public as played by the rowdy louts down the pub swigging a lager and holding a cigarette. Wonder what I'd invest in as a non pool player!! -----------------

This is prob not the forum to discuss this imo. Should be a players meeting at first GB9 with everyone to discuss. Don't think this debate is helping?

I'm not involved with either BPF or GB9. As an outsider the best outcome would be GB9 and BPF working together with the common goal of promoting the game in the UK and getting players the chance to play on the world scene and in turn increasing the exposure and participation levels in the UK. As much as both parties have a stand point and a reason for their actions of which I'm sure everyone is working with good intentions. The only way forwards is unity! ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2016-01-14 00:59 ]

Would not the first GB9 event be a great chance for GB9 to sit down with the BPF members (even with Kurt as well by video/audio/skype/facetime etc) to get together and discuss working together, maybe if asked he can ask EPBF to delay the EPC wishlist date, it seems crazy in GB we have some of the best players in the world, and ** HAVE NEVER HAD EVEN A FINALIST IN ANY MENS OR LADIES (OR TEAM) DISCIPLINE ** (I THINK !)
It is only the self funded wheelchair players who have made an impact with 6 gold and 10 slivers.
* CRAZY ! WORK TOGETHER PLEASE *

CORRECT TiGGER!!!!! It is quite obvious to me that GB9 and BPF have to work together.. SIMPLE - Not rocket science to realise this......... And also the reason why England never have players going to European Championships is cos all have to self fund and only playing for medals!!!! Where as nations like Holland Austria Poland etc etc all go cos they have superb federation set ups where all there players are funded to go and if they place high they get huge financial bonus's from there federations and some even get cars!!!!!! Just another example Poland on there own national rankings (Basically a GB9 format) who ever finishes No1 every year gets a car!!!!!! And as much as i love the GB9 Tour and have always tried to promote them in the best way i can, it is a far cry away from this.....

Basically what im trying to say this is the importance and value of having a NATIONAL FEDERATION.....
Another example is Holland!!! Any players that do well in Euros for them get selected into categories.. So likes of Nvb and Niels who always win a comp each at euros go into Cat A - This gets them a wage in region of 400 Euros a wk and also all expenses paid to there comps all year round... then next batch of players who do well then go in Cat B - they also get a wage of around 200 euros a wk and some help with exs. This is why European Chamionships are classed as a major event for all European Nations except for English players cos no reward yet as in very early stages of Foundation set up......

I quite agree Mark a lot can be achieved with a good federation. Unfortunately it is quite clear that the BPF is not even functioning as a federation, it is just collecting money. When BPF can prove it is working on behalf of UK players GB9 will work with them. First and foremost I would suggest the BPF board sack their current President who has clearly done absolutely nothing in three years and install someone who is actually willing and able to further UK pool. ----------------- Andy Warden, GB9 - Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor √ [ This message was edited by: cueman on 2016-01-16 14:33 ]
