The live scoring system was trash.

I left the event early n followed the tourney from that and there was nothing wrong with it,what reasons do you have to say that

Because you couldn't trace back past results like you could on the old system. It gave the latest results only - pop out for a bit and you couldn't find all the results when you returned. It wasn't the 'live' scoring that was pants, it was the 'dead' scoring, so to speak.

You can get all defensive and shriek like little girls or you can take all views on board and act accordingly.

The system hasn't changed, except for adding an extra screen. This screen included a link to the main page with all results for every match over the weekend.

http://www.gb9balltour.com/livescoring/m_scores.htm

Perhaps just open your eyes in future.

Who are you by the way?

Nice scarcastic response!

There were two links on the live page - one to cuesporttv and the other to a holding page that stated something along the lines of ..."live scores will be available all weekend' and ...'start times are now published here"

I think the urls must have been crossed or maybe it's my eyes that are failing me too because I also couldn't get back to the main page.

I found my way around the live scoring absolutely fine, But then again i am computer literate ;-)

Main Event Scores, Pro Cup Scores, Challenge Scores, Now & Next Scores...................What's your problem ROBBED it's not rocket science????

Take no notice of this Goon he clearly hasn't got a clue how to work himself round a simple computer screen.

Riggers the scoring was bob on, i was using it whilst at work all Saturday & Sunday and never had any problems.

Think you should point the finger at yourself! User error!!

Correct. There was definitely a problem with the links, with this message appearing when linking directly to live scoring.

Oops…
Something seems to have gone wrong.

The link was fine from the main site, however.

I am *highly* computer literate and I couldn't find a way of finding results that had slipped off the 'latest' list. I spent quite some time looking and clicked through just about every link there was.

The Live scoring from the next GB9 event will be published here link was not operating, at least not on Friday night.

Worked fine on mine as well, how about instead of throwing the blame at gb9,when many others had no problems, simply sit back and think it might be a problem at your end, seems strange many others had no problem with it,just a thought.

For what it's worth (from a 9 ball no-mark checking the scores on his wife's I phone) it worked perfectly well for me. Other smart phones are available.

Having read all the above quotes I would like to make several comments -
1. The live/online scoring system worked fine all weekend.
2. I agree with the proposed changes to the tour
3. I like the sound of the pro and challenge events being 9-ball and the main being 10-ball
4. I think some sort of players meeting chaired by the committee would be a good idea.

and finally

It was a great event once again - the three winners certainly proved the quality of the players on tour and as for numbers missing - that could be down to any one of numerous reasons such as work, schools breaking up for summer, people just not interested in 10 ball. I could go on but I have to go practice for the next event in September :-)

Wait a minute, you needed a computer to get the live scores? I had a paper cup and a piece of string....

Ok lets be fair to Robbed for a minute...

The Live scoreboard links to the Now/Next (Green/Red/Amber) screen we ae all used to seeing. If you want to see more detail you need to go to the main live scoring pages. The default link to the main live scoring pages is the main event scores page and from there you have links for challenge and pro.

The problem Robbed encountered was that, prior to the main event draw being published he kept getting the holding page (because only when we publish the main event draw would it overwrite this).

Although the Challenge and Pro pages were being published Robbed couldn't see it because he had a link that sent him via the main event pages and this was still showing the holding page. As soon as the main event draw was published around 2pm on Saturday it was problem solved.

I noticed this myself on Saturday and immediately corrected it. So Robbed had a valid point to make. If he had bothered to explain what the problem was instead if simply saying 'The live scoring is trash' this whole thread would have been avoided.

I value feedack which can help me make stuff better because thats the only way you know you're doing stuff useful but after spending huge amounts of my own time on the Live Scoring solution I have to admit I get very angry when I see posts like that.

I might be less grumpy if I wasn't so tired after a tough weekend. Anyway, that little issue is fixed now (thanks Robbed) and I still think (though I am biased) that the live scoring from GB9 is far from trash. In fact the tournament software that starts all the matches and publishes scores on auto pilot is completely unsurpassed by anything we've ever had in pool events IMO and I'm very proud of it.

And I still hate this hiding behind a screen name rhubarb.

Thanks Riggers.

I apologise for calling it trash - trust me, it was thoughtless rather than malicious, and I certainly think the live scoring is excellent for those of us that can't get there. All systems must bed-in and evolve, and none will be perfect first time.

I will go to diplomacy school before commenting again.
