Prize fund looks ok to me - suppose you could rob the top prize a little to increase the quarters and semi but I think it's ok as it is.

£25 entry for a competetive day's pool and if you get to the last 4 you get your money back. That should be a good target for those entering and at the same time there is a prize worth winning for the more serious player. For most of us it shouldn't really be about the money.

Fwiw, if the Mersey Open were organised at least 3 months in advance, then I could easily look into making the journey across the water to play, since having been to Southport and played in Les Dodds' club, it'd be cool to check out what the level of play is like in the Liverpool area.

Perhaps if it were possible to obtain 1 or 2 local sponsors to add prize money, in exchange for advertising space during the event, that might help to attract more players with a larger prize fund, but obtaining sponsorship of any kind is difficult at the best of times.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck with the event and I hope plenty of players turn up to support the event and the sport in the NW :)

Willie

Yeah, well I totally understand you wanting to get some kind of regular tournaments up and running for players in the area, and so hopefully the players in the NW and also Rileys in Wavetree, will give plenty of support to make it a good and regular event :)

Perhaps it would be worth while to make up flyers and entry forms to be sent out to various pool/snooker clubs and rooms in the NW to give as many players the chance to enter as possible, just a small suggestion to try and help gain a bgood turnout of players.

Willie
