Did you enjoy playing ten-ball for a change at GB9?

It was the first time I have ever played 10-Ball and absolutely loved it.

Personally, I would like to see the main event being 10 ball all the time and the challenge and pro's being 9 ball.

It may also pay dividends - in terms of attracting sponsorship and more entries - if the event was combined into a single, double-elimination tournament. It would need to be structured in a way that anyone who lost their first match would not play again until the Saturday (there are lots of logistical considerations too). There could still be seeds but the draw would be in a tennis style draw -#1 plays #128 and so on. In structuring the event in this way the overall prize money fund could be upwards of £3-4k for the winner which would be almost comparable with the Euro Tour. Wouldn't it be fantastic to see the likes of Souquet, Feijen and so on rocking up in Daventry!?

Anyway, another supremely well-organised event by the GB9 team.

I have said for a while that 1 double elimination tournament is the way forward in my opinion. I think now with there being so many good players in the challenge that adding 16 more and making it double elim would be better value for everyone.

I dont agree with no1 playing no128 etc though. I would seed the top players through 1 or 2 rounds to benefit the lower ranked players then have a seeded but still random draw after that.

Could maybe even do this over 2 days and therefore not need friday? This would surely increase the numbers again.

Maybe the GB9 committee could arrange some kind of players meeting at one of the events to discuss ideas that im sure most of the players have...

I agree Mark and maybe try the new format at event 5, to show players what it will be like next season might change players minds who might be thinking about leaving the tour.

I think the lack of support for the main event finalists is pretty poor and possibly a good idea to have this first then have the pro and challenge event, also i thought a good idea for having the 10ball once a year we could adopt a open draw and all the winners put into the hat this would create some really good match up in the early rounds and then gets you playing somebody different rather than the same guys in rounds 3 and 4. We need to do something as this event i swear quite a few were missing but hopefully that is a one off.

Thanks Mark, you are correct because it can get out of control to have major public discussions about our tour, although it's great to see you guys talking constructively about it.

Although the GB9 team won't get into discussions on here, all I would say is they are well ahead of the game regarding changes planned for next season.

Because you couldn't trace back past results like you could on the old system. It gave the latest results only - pop out for a bit and you couldn't find all the results when you returned. It wasn't the 'live' scoring that was pants, it was the 'dead' scoring, so to speak.

You can get all defensive and shriek like little girls or you can take all views on board and act accordingly.
