BPPPA Stirling Open Champion, Paddy McLoughlin - Ireland

Ireland's No.1 Player wins BPPPA Stirling Open

Paddy McLoughlin won a well deserved victory in Stirling, beating Scotland's only IPT tour player, Pat Holtz with a score of 11:7 in the final of the BPPPA's Stirling Open.

Paddy has been investing a lot in his game lately, playing all over Europe, no distance too far, in a bid to push himself to the limit and test himself against the best. From the Norwegian 9 Ball Challenge to the World Cup of Pool, Paddy has been to them all, and now he has added a well deserved BPPPA trophy to his collection.

Day One Results from Stirling and Sunday's Last 16 Draw Updated Here

Pride of Scotland, Michael Valentine, received a shock defeat in the first round at the BPPPA's Stirling Open.

Player's were worried that the turnout may have suffered due to an unavoidable clash with the Dutch EuroTour, but they needn't have worried, as attendance was actually GREATLY IMPROVED over last year, with 63 entrants making their way to Stirling, compared to the 49 players the previous year.

An ever improving Adam Smith delivered the blow to the Scottish favourite in the 1st round, beating Valentine 7-5.

Smith proceeded to beat Ian Skirving and then Lee Rigby to qualify for tomorrow's Last 16 single elimination stage. Valentine still managed to qualify from the "One-Loss-Side" of this double elimination tournament.

Tour Improvements Brought Forward

Listening to feedback from the players, the BPPPA has introduced tapped tables AND alternate breaks for the first time this weekend, they also introduced set start times for matches. Although originally planned to start for the 2007 season, it was brought forward and the players are reported to be very pleased with the results.
