Shaw Joins Team Europe
Jayson Shaw will make his fifth consecutive appearance on Team Europe at this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup after being selected as captain Alex Lely’s first wildcard pick for pool’s showcase event, which will take place at Alexandra Palace, London, this December 1-4, live on Sky Sports and DAZN.
Shaw joins automatic qualifier Fedor Gorst on the team, with Lely and vice-captain Karl Boyes to select three further wildcards over the coming weeks.
Former US Open champion Shaw made his partypoker Mosconi Cup debut in 2016 and made the winning 9-ball in front of a raucous Ally Pally crowd that year. Shaw was again a key contributor as Europe retained the Cup in 2017 and has become a senior member of the team despite defeats to Team USA in 2018 and 2019.
“I am delighted to be back on the team,†said Shaw during his unveiling, which was broadcast on Matchroom Pool’s YouTube channel and social media pages.
“It is what everybody plays for all season, to try and play in the Mosconi Cup and I feel honoured to be back on the team. I am praying now I am in that everything goes smoothly, and we can get back to a bit of normality for everyone. Then we can do what we do best, which is playing pool, and get out there and enjoy it.

Snooker’s Coral Tour Championship To Run In June On ITV4
Snooker’s return to live action will continue later this month with the Coral Tour Championship from June 20th to 26th at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
The event was originally due to take place on March 17th to 22nd in Llandudno and then rescheduled for July 21st to 26th. But new dates in Milton Keynes have now been confirmed. The tournament will be behind closed doors with extensive live television coverage from ITV4.
This follows the success of this week’s Matchroom.Live Championship League, one of the first sporting events to be staged in the UK since March.
Following weeks of detailed liaison with the UK government, strict health and safety regulations, including Covid-19 testing for all players, officials and staff, have been put into place. These regulations have been followed meticulously this week, allowing the tournament to run smoothly.
The same procedures will be followed during the Coral Tour Championship, and the venue in Milton Keynes has again been selected as it has a hotel on site which means that all personnel can isolate without needing to leave the venue.
One day has been added to the original schedule which means that the whole event can be played on a single televised table, with one match on each day including the final on June 26th.
WST Chairman Barry Hearn said: “We are delighted to confirm dates for this event, coming hot on the heels of the Matchroom.Live Championship League. The feedback we have had this week from the players at the venue in Milton Keynes has been excellent. Any concerns they may have had about their own welfare have been laid to rest – in fact one player described it as ‘probably the safest place on Earth.’

The Best Snooker Player of All Time
Who is ultimately the world’s best snooker player of all time? It’s a clear cut answer...and that is Ronnie O’Sullivan. He is considered one of the most successful British sportspeople over the last 20 years.
So who is Ronnie O’Sullivan and what sets him above the rest? Keep reading to find out more about this snooker legend.
Who is Ronnie O’Sullivan?
This 44-year-old English professional snooker player has lived in the Chigwell, Essex area.
He is the proud father of three and grandfather to one. Though he has endured many tough times in his life, he has certainly worked hard at creating a name for himself.
Snooker Career
After getting into snooker at 7 years of age, Ronnie soon became a competitor to keep an eye on. He won his first club tournament at nine and his first under-16 British Championship at 13.
In 1991, the 15-year-old O’Sullivan participated in the English Amateur Championship. He proved himself to be the most gifted player in snooker history by making his first maximum break competitively.
Since joining professional ranks at 16-years-old, he has broken many records and won multiple championships. To date, he remains the youngest winner of a ranking tournament, the 1993 UK Championship.
What Makes Him So Great?
O’Sullivan stands in a league of his own. He is considered the greatest by many snooker fans around the world. Here are the top reasons why.
1. Dexterity
As a sportsperson, an injury could have a detrimental impact on your career.
Unless you’re ambidextrous, like Ronnie. His skill as a right-handed player is unmatched, not to mention his left hand. Sometimes he may switch as the shot requires it, other times it’s just for fun.

The Greatest Pool Players
Pool is one of the classiest sports known to man. It requires a great deal of focus, accuracy, instinct, and trust in your skills to compete in this sport at a high level. It may not be as physically demanding as some other sports, but it has some areas that require special talents.
This sport is a favourite for people that love to wager their money on various gambling sites. They are always looking for excitement and the online casinos are more than willing to provide them with everything that they need. Some of these sites even offer fans the experience of playing pool for free and test their skills online. As far as the fans that like the gambling side of it, these sites also offer the chance to wager on your skills.
Online casinos also have tons of other games for the people that like to gamble, so if you are a fan of the excitement and thrill, be sure to check them out. They are completely safe and secure and they are known for fast payouts and enforcing fair-play.
Throughout the years of pool’s existence, we’ve witnessed many terrific players that were setting the bar too high and created standards with the records that they’ve broken. Some of these records remain unbroken to this day. The list of the greatest pool players can go forever and it is based on individual opinions, so we wanted to share our top 3 pool players of all time. Let’s check them out.
Ralph Greenleaf
Ralph Greenleaf is one of the most respected pool players in history. He was known as a very elegant and charismatic player who dominated the world of pool in the early 1900s. Ralph was also among the first 3 members who were inducted into the Billiard Congress of America's Hall of Fame in 1966. During his career, Ralph Greenleaf managed to win twenty World Pocket Billiard Championships – his first was in 1919 against Willie Mosconi and his last was in 1937 against Irving Crane.
Willie Mosconi
Next up, we have the person who lost to Ralph in 1919 and enabled him to win his first World Pocket Billiard Championship. Willie Mosconi was a true legend in this sport. He managed to win the World Pocket Billiard Championship 15 times between the years of 1941 and 1957. In short, Willie dominated every opponent in the mid-1900s. Mosconi also authored an autobiography that was published in 1993 (Willie’s Game). He died of a heart attack in his home at the age of 80.
Efren Reyes
Nicknamed “The Magicianâ€, Efren Reyes is the greatest pool player to ever grace us with his skills. He is born in 1954 in the Philippines. Among many other achievements in his life, Reyes is also the first player to win world championships in two different pool disciplines. In 1997, Reyes won the largest single-purse reward of $100,000 after he defeated Earl Strickland. Many experts, analysts, and fans put Efren Reyes at the very top on the list of the greatest pool players in history. Efren Reyes was the first Asian inductee in the Billiard Congress of America’s Hall of Fame.
