TEAM EUROPE 11-3 TEAM USA
Ouschan/Filler 5-2 Van Boening/Woodward
Joshua Filler 5-0 Skyler Woodward
Ouschan/Gorst 3–5 Thorpe/Robinson
Jayson Shaw 5-3 Shane van Boening
Europe regained the partypoker Mosconi Cup with an emphatic 11-3 victory over Team USA which was completed by MVP Jayson Shaw at Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
Alex Lely’s side won three of the four matches played on Thursday evening to complete their first partypoker Mosconi Cup win since 2017, Shaw making the winning 9-ball against Shane van Boening.
“It feels great,” said Shaw, whose two singles and two doubles wins saw him become the first Brit to lift the Predator MVP trophy since Chris Melling in 2012. “I was feeling a little bit of pressure at the end there, but I played well to go 4-2 up, I really dug deep. I am delighted to win.
“If that had been in front of 3,000 fans it would have been great, but we will still enjoy this. They played well the last two years; you have to take your hat off to them. This time around we jelled better as a team, we played better in the doubles matches, and won a lot more lags which was massive because a lot of fames came down to hill-hill.”
“It feels amazing,” said European captain Alex Lely. “It has been quite a tussle; we have self-quarantined away from our families but we put a lot of work in and it paid off.”

TEAM EUROPE 8-2 TEAM USA
Jayson Shaw 5–4 Shane van Boening
Shaw/Filler 5-4 Woodward/Robinson
Fedor Gorst 5-2 Corey Deuel
Kaci/Ouschan 5-4 Van Boening/Thorpe
Jayson Shaw 5-3 Billy Thorpe
Europe are closing in on partypoker Mosconi Cup redemption having dominated the second day of play at Ricoh Arena, Coventry, live on Sky Sports Mix and DAZN.
Alex Lely’s side lead Team USA 8-2 having won all five matches played on Tuesday evening, Scotland’s Jayson Shaw leading from the front with two singles and a doubles win. It means Europe need just three more points to regain the Cup after two years of USA success.
“It is a good scoreline and was great play,” said European Captain Alex Lely. “There were a couple of hill-hill finishes and I am very content.
“Jayson has looked so good from day one in our preparations when we gathered here four days before the event. He has been doing out in the arena what he has been doing in the practice room.
“They are champions, they know that they are entitled to a little celebration now but nothing over the top, just game on tomorrow to try and finish as quickly and clinically as we can because we will be up against a lot of those guys next year.”

TEAM EUROPE 3-2 TEAM USA
Team Europe 3-5 Team USA
Filler/Gorst 5-2 Van Boening/Deuel
Eklent Kaci 5–4 Chris Robinson
Shaw/Ouschan 5-2 Woodward/Thorpe
Albin Ouschan 4-5 Shane van Boening
Europe lead the partypoker Mosconi Cup 3-2 after the opening day’s play at Ricoh Arena, Coventry, and the scoreline could have been worse for Team USA had Shane van Boening not won the last match of the night in the final rack against Albin Ouschan.
America made a perfect start when they won the opening match, which featured all five players from both teams. Europe were 3-0 up when momentum shifted after a shirt foul was called against Eklent Kaci. But Europe took the next three matches to lead the event, live on Sky Sports Mix and DAZN.
The fifth and final match of the session saw Ouschan take on Van Boening in a match which went hill-hill before the South Dakota Kid cleared the table to take the point after an Ouschan dry break.
“It was very cagey out there and we dodged a bullet, I think,” acknowledged European captain Alex Lely. “We were 3-0 up in the team match, lost that and then Fedor and Joshua were struggling. But they managed to win, and then Eklent Kaci managed to win because of Chris Robinson not getting there in the end."

Line-ups Announced for Opening Day of partypoker Mosconi Cup

Albin Ouschan will face Shane van Boening at the end of the first day of play in the partypoker Mosconi Cup, which begins on Tuesday at Ricoh Arena, Coventry, live on Sky Sports Mix and DAZN from 6:30pm (UK time).
The annual Europe vs. USA 9-ball showdown will open, as is tradition, with a team match featuring all five players. Doubles action follows with Germany’s Joshua Filler and Russian rookie Fedor Gorst taking on experienced American duo Shane van Boening and Corey Deuel.
Eklent Kaci will represent Europe in the first singles match of the competition, with USA fielding debutant Chris Robinson. A second doubles match sees Ouschan paired with Jayson Shaw, against Skyler Woodward and Billy Thorpe.
The fifth and final match of the evening’s play, traditionally a key clash, sees Ouschan take on five-time US Open Champion Shane van Boening.
“It is my first time playing the last singles on the first day,” acknowledged Ouschan at Monday’s pre-event press conference. “That match always seemed to be Darren Appleton against Shane, and then it was Jayson against Shane, so it is an honour to play that kind of match.“

Partypoker Mosconi Cup Moves To Ricoh Arena, Coventry
The 2020 partypoker Mosconi Cup will now take place at Ricoh Arena, Coventry, a change from its original venue of Alexandra Palace, London.
The event will still take place from December 1-4. Promoters Matchroom Multi Sport are working hard to have fans inside the venue, should it be possible within UK government guidelines. However, all ticket holders will now have their orders automatically refunded.
Should fans be able to attend, those who had tickets booked for this year’s event will be given priority access to purchase tickets.
The 2020 partypoker Mosconi Cup will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, DAZN and Matchroom.Live, and Matchroom Multi Sport are working on ways for fans to remain a part of the event in a number of different ways.
Emily Frazer, Managing Director of Matchroom Multi Sport, said: “We aren’t giving up. We are pushing for spectators to be able to attend, but for now we are starting fresh and looking at how we can get some fans in there. We are redesigning the arena, looking at our new plans and working within government guidance to try and get some fans in."

Kaci Completes Team Europe For partypoker Mosconi Cup
Albania’s Eklent Kaci is the fifth and final player to be selected to represent Team Europe at the partypoker Mosconi Cup, which will take place at Alexandra Palace, London, this December 1-4, live on Sky Sports and DAZN.
Kaci has played in each of the last two Cups, impressing particularly in singles play last year, despite being on the losing team. The 21-year-old became the youngest player to ever play at the partypoker Mosconi Cup when he debuted in London two years ago.
He joins Fedor Gorst, Jayson Shaw, Joshua Filler and Albin Ouschan on Alex Lely’s team as Europe aim to strike back at a USA side who have won the last two partypoker Mosconi Cups.
“The Mosconi Cup is the biggest goal of the year, for myself and I think all of the players,” said Kaci. “It is a great event and if you have played in it, you know it. I am very happy that the captain picked me. We are a really strong team and we are ready to take the trophy back.

Ouschan Returns To Partypoker Mosconi Cup For Team Europe
Albin Ouschan has joined Team Europe for this December’s partypoker Mosconi Cup after being selected by captain Alex Lely as the fourth player to join the line-up.
The 30-year-old Austrian will be making his fourth appearance at the event and holds an individual record bettered only by Vice Captain Karl Boyes for matches won by players with more than one appearance.
Ouschan, a former World Champion and two-time World Cup of Pool winner. Was exceptional for Europe in their 2018 defeat to USA but missed out on selection last year. However, he returns this time around alongside Fedor Gorst, Jayson Shaw and Joshua Filler with one player still to be selected.
“It is an incredible feeling to be back on the team,” said Ouschan. “It is one of the nicest things when you get a call from the captain to say that you are in. This year has been tough, but I knew I probably had a better chance if there were four or five wildcards.
