Double-bubble for teams Germany

The Gold Medals in the team competition of the Dynamic Billard European Championships Youth in Tirana, Albania, have been claimed. Team Germany have defended the desired titles on the final day of the Championships in both divisions.

The match in the Under 19’s was pretty much dominated by team Germany who also were the defending Champions and favorites in the clash with team The Netherlands. The first point was brought into the German account by multiple European Champion Patrick Hofmann. He conquered Cyriel Ledoux in 10-ball with 7:5. Later on today, Hofmann will also play in the semi-final of the 9-ball individuals and he will have a shot at his 4th Gold Medal during these Championships. An absolutely amazing performance by Hofmann.

The necessary point for the German team victory was collected by Kevin Schiller who took down Jan van Lierop 8:4 in the 9-ball match. That brought the Gold Medal to team Germany.

The final match in the Under 17’s turned into a thriller. Fedor Gorst finished Leon Kohl quite quickly with 7:2 in 9-ball and opened the account for the Russians. At that time, the 10-ball match between Luca Menn and Ilia Nekleenov was hill-hill. Shooting at the 6-ball, Nekleenov made a huge mistake and missed an easy shot. Instead of sealing the deal for his team, he gave a chance to Menn to get back to the table. The German used the chance, won the 10-ball 6:5 and tied the score in the team match 1:1. The 8-ball match had to decide. Pete Herman was up 5:4 against Egor Trifonov. The Russian managed to level at 5:5. Then, Herman used his chance, broke the balls and cleared the table to win the match 6:5 and bring the Gold Medal to his team.

The Dynamic Billard European Championships Youth will continue today with the 9-ball semi-finals and finals to come. At the moment, teams Germany and Russia are fiercely fighting for the victory of the overall medal count.

THE DYNAMIC EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP - YOUTH

Kostas Koukiadakis (GRE)

Koukiadakis took the cake against Cwikla

In the Under 19 division of the Dynamic Billard European Championships Youth, Kostas Koukiadakis (GRE) overmastered defending Champion Krystian Cwikla (POL) in 9-ball.

The round was the quarter-finals. Cwikla had already two victories under his belt. He demolished Marco Peroco (ITA) 8:0 and Timofey Sereda (BLR) 8:2. There was not much resistance he had to face so far. Same goes for Koukiadakis. He took down Aykin Burcu (TNC) 8:0 and then went on and contended Federico Amendola (ITA) 8:4. Cwikla was definitely favored to win that match. But from the very beginning, Koukiadakis proved that he was not intending to become easy prey for the defending Champion. To the contrary, the Greek provided a fierce fight to the Champion and never let Cwikla get any advantage on the scoreboard. After eight racks, the match was all square at 4:4. Then Koukiadakis managed to get a small lead with 6:4 over Cwikla. That was probably the turning point in the match. At 7:5, Cwikla’s nerves let him down and Koukadakis went on to triumph against the Polish, winning 8:5. This victory takes Koukiadakis into the semi-final tomorrow and promises him his first medal at European Championships. He will encounter Russian all-star Maksim Dudanets (RUS) who remained victorious over Mark Magi (EST) 8:4 today. The other semi-final in the Under 19’s will be played between Patrick Hofmann (GER) and Daniel Maciol (POL). Hofmann has a shot to pick up his third title this week.

In the Under 17’s, Wiktor Zielinski (POL) is probably the hottest candidate for the title. He creamed Szymon Blazej (POL) 7:2 today, then whipped Andreas-Steen Bonnelykke (DEN) 7:2 and finally skunked Jan van Lierop (NED) even 7:1 in the quarter-finals. He will be up against Luca Menn (GER). The German surprisingly ousted Zielinski’s nightmare opponent Sanjin Pehlivanovic (BIH) in the quarter-finals 7:5. In the other semifinal, Fedor Gorst (RUS) and Kestutis Zadeikis (LIT) battle it out.

In the Girls division, Kristina Tkach (RUS) is up against Palina Chernik (BLR) in the semi-final while Diana Khodjaeva (BEL) has to deal with Pia Blaeser (GER).
The Dynamic Billard European Championships Youth will continue tomorrow morning at 09:00 CET with the semifinals of the team competition. The finals team are scheduled for 11:00 local time. Right after that, the semifinals of the 9-ball individuals will start at 14:00 with the finals scheduled for 15:30.

Poland and Germany have a „double rendez-vous“ in the teams

Day seven of the Dynamic Billard European Championships Youth in Tirana, Albania, started with two rounds of team matches. They resulted in the fact that Poland and Germany will play each other in both divisions, Under 17 and Under 19.

Germany is the defending Champion in both divisions. In the Under 17’s, Poland was the opponent in last year’s final match. The fact that these two now meet in the semi-finals already this year is the „fault“ from the German team. They lost their match in the winner’s qualification round to team Russia and so they had to take the detour over the loser’s side and were drawn in the single elimination stage. While team Poland had a walk-over since team Albania withdrew last minute, team Germany today faced team The Netherlands. That match turned out to become a debacle for the Dutch. Luca Menn (GER) took down Mitchel Knuever (NED) 6:0 in 10-ball while Leon Kohl (GER) destroyed Megan Rademakers (NED) 7:1 in 9-ball. At that time, Quinten Pongers (NED) was leading 3:1 over Pete Herman (GER) but since the score was already 2:0 in favor of team Germany, the encounter was decided and over. The other semifinal in the Under 17’s will be played tomorrow between team Russia and team Denmark. The Russians eliminated team North Cyprus 2:0 while Denmark won the Scandinavian battle with their neighbors Norway 2:0.

In the Under 19’s, Germany pipped team Czech Republic 2:0. The only clear result brought the match victory for Germany. Patrick Hofmann (GER), two-time Champion this week already, won clearly with 7:3 in 10-ball over Petr Brancusky (CZE). Tayfun Teber (GER) managed to triumph 7:6 in 8-ball over Calvin Washburn (CZE). At that point in time, Kevin Schiller (GER) was leading 7:6 over Ladislav Hajsman (CZE) in a race to eight in 9-ball. Germany’s opponent in the semifinal tomorrow will again be team Poland who outplayed Austria 2:0 today. The other semifinal in the Under 19’s will be played between The Netherlands and Russia. While the Dutch creamed North Cyprus 2:0, the Russians got the better of Norway with the same result.

The Dynamic Billard European Championships Youth will continue today with 9-ball matches in the individuals.

The Championships are played on 24 tables which are all streamed LIVE throughout the whole event.
