Total9Ball

Since the success of the England Trials on Saturday T9B have been working hard behind the scenes and believe we have come up with an event amateur 9ball players have been crying out for.

Details of this event will be available by 8pm this evening (MONDAY) but for the first event of this style there will only be 32 places available (This will increase by event 2). This event will offer...

**Guaranteed prize money**
**Min two matches per player**
**Event completed in one day**
**Clear and transparent costing**
**Low Entry Fee**
**No Handicaps**
**Races to 9**

Need i say anymore? make sure your back with us by 8pm this evening to book your space in this fantastic event.

Exciting times ahead for amateur 9ball in the UK. Show us your support and you wont be disappointed.

Hi Phil,

Forgive my naivety - still pretty new to the scene having only played 9-ball for about 18 months - I was wondering what actually constitutes the difference between this kind of event and what the Pro9 tour does? I was under the impression that T9B was moreso for encouraging weaker players like myself to give it a go (hence the handicap system and such to make sure we can win some games), whereas Pro9 was for the very serious players (larger entry fees, multiple-day events, playing off even, higher number of frames needed to win to decrease variance).

Are you thinking you'll switch T9B more regularly down the road to this sort of style? I wouldn't want to completely lose sight of the old format - indeed I have a friend who is excited to play in T9B perhaps later this year but currently is not strong enough to enter at the lowest handicap (he is about +4 level at the moment if such a thing existed), and something like this would deter him I think.

That said, fairly excited to see what will come of this - shall watch the thread for more information :) .

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Chris, you ask some very good questions in your post. T9B in its 4 year history have achieved some great success in handicap events. Handicap comps will always play a major part in our schedule of events (more than 50%) as your correct this evens out the playing field. We are now simply are trying to branch out to offer more events to more players. We feel offering these new scratch events will increase our ever growing database, encourage players of the past to begin playing again, increase the amount of players travelling greater distance for events and also increase the amount of players in our handicaps events as we believe we do a great job, therefore we hope players are impressed and try out other events of ours.

Firstly I agree with you Phil, you are doing a great job. Just curious as to why you might want to woo players that might have played back in the day or even players from further a field that play to a high standard. I agree with Simba, this is GB9
territory, surely? I playing off scratch/-1 and know realistically I have very little chance of winning one of your regular handicap events if six or seven of the -3/-4 players turn up. Not moaning, its just a fact, they are fantastic cueists! So saying that, what chance do +1 or higher have in the regular handicap events if players like me have limited chance. How do you think you will attract a vast amount of your current database to play off levels?
Maybe its a totally new event for new players and some existing hotshots?

Again Good points. We feel to get bigger we have to explore every avenue. Surely its not just about prize money? its about the challenge,, seeing the improvement in your game, taking on the beston a level playing field, a reason to practice and improve your game and a chance to prove your the best. Of course the handicap scene will still rule T9B but it may so mean the higher standard players stick to the scratch events therefore the handicap events become more open. Also some playerd who get a big start say it puts them off as they feel they have some leway and therefore dont give it 100% or respect the win when they do win
