Total9Ball

**REMEMBER TO ENTER THE MID SEASON GRAND FINALS YOU MUST HAVE ATTENDED MINIMUM 3 EVENTS THIS SEASON**

The new Total9ball season is here and the Amateur Series is back for its 5th successive season and we must say it looks better than ever. During the close season T9B have secured a fantastic new sponsor of Dynamic Billiards. We are proud to have Dynamic Billiards on board and Iím sure you the players will enjoy the enhancements this sponsorship deal will add to an already brilliant series. Adding Dynamic Billiards to our superb current sponsors Hurricane Room, Kamui, Sanctuary Cues, Rileys and Ultimate Breakmasters shows The T9B Amateur Series is clearly the UK's biggest and best. Make sure your apart of this season, I promise you wont be disappointed.

Last season we used the 2x double chance format for a second season and again it worked very well with players gaining the maximum value money and getting the opportunity to play 9ball using one of the most fresh and exciting formats to ever hit UK 9Ball. This season we have decide to stick with the popular format and expect this season to be more popular than ever.

For anyone new to the T9B 2x format here is some info.

T9B double chance events seem to be the most popular format we use, we believe the reason behind this is because it offers unbeatable value, players are entered into the draw twice which means players can lose a match but still be the overall winner of the tournament, it guarantees each player a minimum of two tense knock-out matches and also means each entrance has the opportunity to get in the prize money twice. Feedback regarding these event has always been brilliant and therefore we feel using this format is the way to get the most players involved. Win all your matches and you can collect the Winners and Runners up prize money... a very nice days work. A beautiful glass trophy is awarded to the winner of each event and also to the overall winner of the rankings after the five event series.

Side Events

The break dish will continue as a roll up. The break dish roll up was first used at T9B events last season and as it wasnít won the pot has now accrued to £100, this amount will increase each event until it is won. Raffle tickets will be sold at each event for £1 for 3 tickets. All money collected will be added to the pot. After the first round of matches two tickets will be drawn at random, the first player drawn will have the opportunity to break and dish the balls to take the pot. If unsuccessful the second player will get the opportunity, if the second player also fails the pot will roll over to the following event.

Rules

**A legal 3point break must be made
**If a player makes a Golden break or combos the 9ball into the pocket, the 9ball will be placed on its spot and the player will continue his turn.

The Series will continue on Saturday 22nd March 2014. This will be event 4 of a Ten event series, there will also be a mid season Grand Final and an end of season Grand Final. Each event will be held at St Albans Hurricane Room with matches beginning at 10am sharp. Players must understand that while they are in the tournament twice still there may not be much of a break in between games.

How can this handicap remain on a +2 when he got to a quarter final of the 'Search for a star' last year and has just sealed a spot on the England 'B' team for the national championships??

Thought these handicaps changed once you 'cashed out' at an event?

Hi Dazza,

Remember that most of the events (indeed all except the England one yesterday) are with handicap. With fair handicap, it makes sense that you should win half of your games. Looking at the T9B site, http://www.t9b.co.uk/players/Chris_Bryant(258 ) (link broken due to smiley, move final bracket to include in link), I have 7 wins and 8 losses, which actually means I win a little under 50% of my games. I could perhaps see your point moreso if I was winning 70%+ or even 60%+, but not currently.

As for the England tournament, I got a fairly lucky draw I feel. I got beaten quite badly by Richard and Aslam who I'd expect to lose to based on T9B handicaps (Richard is -3 to my +2, so the 9-5 loss would mean in a normal event we'd have a 7-6 match I'd win, and Aslam is -1 to my +2, so my 9-3 loss would mean in a normal event he'd win 8-5).

The other people I played are not people whose names I recognise at all - haven't seen them at any T9B events before.

The way I understood it was that if someone got to the final of a T9B event then they get promoted, which I've never managed, and given my winrate on this handicap is already under 50%, it seems sensible to stay here for now.

Hi Dazza

Chris Bryant has improved alot in a very short space of time which is great and proves that tournament play is the quickiest and best way to improve. +2 is the handicap that Chris has requested but not necessarily the handicap he will be assigned. After each event all handicaps are assessed based on results and consistantcy.

I've only entered a couple of T9B events last year and was given a 0 handicap straight away even though i'd not played competitively since 2008.

I accepted this and to be honest it was pretty much bang on. I played the Rookie tourney last year won 3 out of 3 group games and was seeded no. 2 going into the last 16. Then ran into Johnny Vaughan and lost 7-6. I was told that day that if i'd have cashed out at that event my handicap would have gone to -1 for the following event, that's the only reason i posted.

Maybe the info i was given on the day was incorrect or the rules on handicaps have changed since mid 2013. I haven't entered enough T9B events to know due to work commitments.

Ok Phil thanks for the response.

So basically it's better to just put your name down for an event and not 'request' a handicap, rather than request one and find out on the day that you are playing from a -1 instead of a +2?

Only reason i ask is that i'm thinking about converting from GB9 to T9B fully for reasons of my own and want to be sure i'm making the right choice.. Due to work commitments i cannot commit to both unfortunately.

Cheers

The rules during last season were if you cashed you would be cut but then we found some handicaps became unrealistic. This season im monitoring results event by events and looking at the stats provided on www.t9b.co.uk. New player will always play there first matches now off a handicap no lower than -1 and higher if felt appropriate. This is to protect our regular players from the one event sharks. New handicaps will then be assessed and the player will be informed that the handicap may change once we can gauge there standard of play. Darren i hope to see you are future T9B as its clear you have a talent and we would love to see you improve your game even more.

I was thinking of entering a couple of T9B events anyway this year (Probably the Amateur 9 & 10 Ball Championships) but again due to work commitments couldn't commit to many more.

GB9 dates have been kind to me this year as i only need to use 4 days holiday for all 5 events which is why i committed to that, however following event 1 and the way i feel about certain things which i'm not going to discuss on here i may convert to T9B this year unless things do change for the better.

Next year again might be a different story ;-)
