TOURNAMENT CALENDAR

Last Saturday during my usual address to the Players I announced that it would be necessary to cancel the BPPPA Colchester Open owing to the fact the club only has 10 tables and that I would speak to Riley's HQ today to reschedule the event at another venue.

Having contacted Riley's, I am extremely pleased to inform you that Colchester will now be able to proceed on 13th - 14th May as planned as the club has recently been refurbished and now has 18 tables.

The Tournament scheduled for Bristol on the weekend of 24th - 25th June will be moved to Riley's St. Albans (on the same dates) which is a larger club and has gone through the new style refurbishment.

During the last two days we have been extremely busy looking at all venues for the remaining events of the season. Co-operation from Riley's and the dialogue between us has been exceptional and my thanks go to Chris Read and Keiron Padmore for their assistance in this matter.

I look forward to seeing you all at Colchester.

Speaking of the BPPPA calender I noticed that the World Championship qualifiers at Victoria and Lancaster have been taking off. Will there still be any qualifiers for the World Championships?

Don't think the UK get any automatic spots anymore, unless I'm mistaken? Only way in is through a top 24 placing on the Euro Tour.

Ted,

Will the Coventry Open still be happening at the old Suzi-Q? This club has just had a nice refit (and is now Rileys), but they only have 12 SAM tables - and lot's of English tables as apparatnly they run a lot of English pool leagues etc. there.

Andy :-)

Andy,

Please be advised that I am waiting to hear from Riley's for a suitable change of venue.

Hey Ted :), How's it goin buddy?:)

I hope that there will be a bigger venue for the Coventry event or that Riley's install more SAM tables as I'm looking to come over to play in that event, but if it means a venue change, then I'm happy either way as long as there is an airport nearby where the event is being played, I'll be happy just to shoot pool :)

I'm looking forward to playing on the tour :)

Take care everyone :)

Willie

Rileys will open a new club in Barnsley in October with 15 tables. I hope it gets considered as a future venue because there are plenty new players in Barnsley from English 8 ball now taking up the sport not to mention the many players from the surrounding Yorkshire towns.

Barnsley?? OMG :-D

Nice to see you're involvement Lee, glad you are enjoying the sport. So much better than the little tables.

Plus there are nicer folk on Pro9 compared with 'other' sites :-P

I agree Si, I used to dabble in the small table stuff years ago. The 'other' websites weren't the classiest places. The posts were all f-ing this and f-ing that. It wasn't so much who wants a game? It was who wants a fight? ;-)

I agree. Regardless of the fact that the big table, heavy balls, fast cloth and the game itself is much more fun than english 8 ball it's refreshing to see that American Pool in the UK doesn't appear to be littered with complete ******* and the web sites are used for what they should be - information with a bit of fun thrown in.
