Hi all

Just a quick question does it make a difference to where you have a cue jointed. pool cues are always centre snooker is 3/4 does it make any difference to the feel of the cue.

And why are most snooker cues ash and pool cues maple is there any difference in play quality.

There's definitely going to be a big difference in the feel.

Plus ash is a lot stiffer than maple.

I love my maple, went back after playing with ash and the feel of maple can't be beat imho. Find a good cue maker with properly cured maple and you can't go wrong.

I ordered a 1 piece maple snooker cue about a 2mths ago, 9mm tip and 57.5" long, just been told it's ready and can't wait to pick it up. I've been playing with ash for the past 7yrs since starting in the UK and 1 annoyance is if I haven't had a shave, occasionally the stubble can get ripped out from your chin! I play with a Viking maple 9ball cue and it's always a pleasure to use so hopefully I haven't just blown alot of money with the snooker cue! Previously I used a 1 piece Powerglide Black Diamond snooker cue which I didn't bring over as it's a pain to carry around, if you get the chance to use a similar cue - go for it.
