Topic: pros in you local club?????

If you don't earn a living playing pool then you could easily say you are semi-professional, which is what 95% of the BPPPA players are. I can safely say there aren't more than 10 people in the whole of the UK that make a living from just playing pool comps (Money matches / gambling / betting are something else) I'm talking prize money in comps. Even the mighty dazzler and Imran do 'work' on the side to earn money. Actually is there anyone making a decent living 100% from pool? I doubt it.

what do they do on the side to make some extra cash?????????

David Alcaide, who is probably the only Pro Pool Player in Spain and Dani Sanchez, World No 1 Three Cushion player and the only Pro Carom Player in Spain.

Hi guys, i was into buying and selling property a couple of years ago and i did ok from it, now i just own a few properties...its nothing major.

I consider myself as one of the few UK players to be 100% pro, I am lucky enough to be an IPT tour card holder, and i am even more lucky to have a great manager who looks after me extremely well.

I would like to mention that this topic is one of the reasons for starting the EPT. Up until now UK players have had virtually no chance of making any decent money from pool unless they fork out big expense to try and make it over seas. Ok, the first event this weekend in Manchester isn't major money but it is £8,000 plus IPT place and i would guess that even though this is only the first event the prize money is already much greater than anything else we have witnessed on these shores. For the future the prize money will be rising quite significantly, and it will be the players that get in from the start that will benefit the most.
There has been mention of a major announcement from the EPT, and all i can say at this point is that this rumour is true, and that i am in the middle of sealing an unbeleivable sponsorship deal for the Empire Pool Tour. The fact of the matter is that i can not announce the details until pen touches paper, hopefully this will be within the next two days, but i cant say for sure.

If there are any players out there that hasn't entered the Manchester open yet, then i urge you to do so as i cant be responsible for the tears that will follow if you miss out on getting on the EPT early.

I am providing the tools for us UK players to make some decent money, and its upto you guys if you want a piece of the pie.

it's simple, if your winnings/sponsors are your salary then your a pro. if you sign on, play all day win a bit here and there to get by, then you ain't and your just kidding yourself!

with prize money in the uk i find it hard to believe anyone is making a living from it!

I agree wth Andy, if you won every BPPPA event (12) that would be around £12K in winnings, less expenses means you'll probably clear under 10 grand - that's about what Riley's bar staff are paid!

Yeah but Rileys staff get free chips and spicy chicken burgers, not to mention free table time and unlimited MTV. You can't really put a value on that. Lets be honest - 99% of us spend more money on pool than we make from it. But we're addicted!
