andy, is was in the industry news late last year, you need to contact david morris (GBPA and EPBF), too late for this year. GB team is one of the few that have to pay there own way (wheelie team being part sponsored by the excellent sponsors, (gentlemen's night out http://www.thegentlemensnightout.co.uk/), most of the other federations fund there players with govt support, fat chance here. it costs 110 euros per event (each of the 3 or 4 disciplines) and about 45 euros per night B&B for 9/10 nights, and no prize money, thats why I think not many GB men enter, compared to the eurotour. As far as i can see there is no proper GB federations apart from the wheelie, as you can see from the GBPA website http://www.gbpa.org.uk/its been under construction for longer than the olympic stadium.

funny how anyone who plays eurotour or world events from the uk has to pay 100 quid each towards some federation david morris set up so why aint any of that money been paid out to help towards expences for wheelies etc. so far he must have taken 2k and from what i know nothing has been spent

Phil, no prizemoney - correct so i understand the scepticism over why someone would go. However i agree with Tigger - a couple of reasons really - firstly Tig's already pointed out the fact that its an opportunity to call yourself European Champion! Secondly - the Euro champs are the best events i have been too, better organised than any event i have ever been too! its a great experience.... Its just unfortunate that we brits have to pay our own way for it. If you could find any kind of sponsor for the events in future i completely recommend it!
Thats not to put any other event down in terms of organisation either, GB9 are pushing the eurotour might close these days and without a doubt have the best match tables of any tour!...
anyhow - point is that euros are defo worth playing if you get the chance, wheelie, men, women or jnrs - it doesnt matter!
enjoy guys - i hope one of you are lucky enough to bring home a medal or two
Ossie

For info GB9 did fund players to play in the EC's for the first few years of our tour. Attendance at the event was costing well over 2k just to send 2 players, most of which went on the hotel cost which we felt was way too high. We thought the money could be better spent on our own tour, which is what our members really pay their money for. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2011-03-20 07:36 ]

I've played in these champs about 4 times....some a few years ago and also played about 4 years ago too. Organizers do do a great job because of the amount of players in attendance. It's nowhere near the best events I've been to, Matchroom events are in a different league for a start, and there are many more that beat it too, but the fact that they have about 300 players to sort out makes it a tough job to get right for sure. I have never understood why they couldn't put some of the money received back into a prize fund.....doesn't have to be a lot, just something so that if you did well you cover your costs etc. As it is, unless you are sponsored or your federation cover the costs, it's a total no brainer! Our federation is the GBPA Nd since paying the £100 annual membership fee I havnt heard a thing! So what's happening with this setup OZ, your on the committee aren't you? -----------------

I expect the amount paid in total is broadly in line with the amount the EPBF expects national federations to pay in total - about EUR1200 per year I think. I expect the EPBF will say that money (national federation subs) was for development of the sport. Am not sure therefore if that means the money paid to the GBPA is for development of the sport in the UK or if it just gets passed on directly to the EPBF or maybe it's for something else. It's an interesting question for sure. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2011-03-21 08:45 ]
