I just spoke with Jayson Shaw about entering a Scottish team, he won't be able to make the qualifier because he's stuck in the USA. That said, I'm still up for making up half the Scottish entry. So who fancies joining me in the qualifier? Michael? Pat? any young guns up for it? If anyone fancies a pop at the title with me let me know, PM me or facebook me.

Surely Jonni the one player who could make you motor is the Flyimg Scotsman, Ross McInnes. Age is no substitute for experience. He will probably give you a bit of the old moody about the missus, the kids, the eyesight, date clashes, darts and half a dozen other excuses but he is more than capable of holding his own on the 'big table'.
So do yourself a favour and get in touch

Entry is free to anyone. It's completely open, the only restriction as far as I know is that no two teams from the same country can qualify. So if two Scottish teams got to the final, the place would go to the winner of the final and the winner of the 3rd place play off. The qualifier is at the next Eurotour in Sarejevo as far as I know.

Doug you say go for Ross Mcinnes great player but a bit of a kick in the teeth for any current Scottish player ie Michael Valentine it seems to me that you really are either stuck in the past or just love the so called big names how can pool ever go forward in our shores if we always go back to yesteryear. The dinosaurs are extinct time to move forward its not all about picking your mates from a bygone era

The dinosaurs are extinct time to move forward its not all about picking your mates from a bygone era I don't usually get involved in extended dialogue with poeple unless they post under a recognisable name. But I am prepared to make an exception so that more people can understand how thimgs really work. Right now, with the exception of The Mosconi Cup, pool does not have a core audience. Very few people watch televised pool because it is boring and lacking in characters. Bearing in mind that I am not picking players to play in the tournament but merely speculating about who might put a few extra Bums On Seats if they qualify. No, I am not stuck in the past. I run Pub Music Quiz Evenings where you might on any given night you might hear Caruso to Pitbull or Paloma Faith. Just because this covers 12 decades, it doesn't mean that the 'old is bad' and 'new is good' You refer to Ross as a Dinosaur but people like to see Dinosaurs. I have seen promos for the Isle of Wight and Dorset's Jurrasic Coast claiming the connection with these prehistoric creatures and creating massive interest in them. Michael Valentne is a great player and a very good friend of mine and I would like to see him enter. Likewise, Pat Holtz. Naturally it would be nice to see some home grown talent but surely some Young Guns should consider Jonni's offer. He has a highly respectable Euro Tour record and it would benefit any young player who hooked up with him But the game has no chamce of going forward unless it GROWS A PAIR and starts to develop characters. That's one thing that Mr McInnes can bring to the table.

Doug you said in an earlier post you don't need to delve into the rankings pick players making the headlines has Ross been making any lately in the world of 9ball and my comment of dinosaurs was not saying they aint good enough but merely stating that players such as valentine would I presume be a little miffed at being overlooked for someone who hasn't been plying his trade as much as a current player and that you cant keep going back to the players of your day times and players have changed

It seems you have failed to grasp that we are not selectors for the Worl Cup. This is merely an exchamge of views about who might make a winning combination were they to enter a qualifiers. Michael has that option so he has no need to be 'miffed.'

But the game has no chance of going forward unless it GROWS A PAIR and starts to develop characters. That's one thing that Mr McInnes can bring to the table. In that way, the Snooker Legends tour is proving very popular. Scotland do not have a place therefore selection is not relevent. Anyone from Scotland can go and attempt to qualify at there choosing. A non debate then really.

No doubt when they are released certain people will rip the choices to pieces instead of getting behind them!

Seems all wrong holding the qualifier in Bosnia when the main comp is in London. I accept that the euro tour is there but even still.

Appleton and Boyes are England A WITH THE World Cup of Pool taking place in England for the first time in the eight year history of the event, established international stars Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes will be making up the England A team for their assault on the most prestigious title in team pool. World No.1 Appleton, who represented England in the World Cup in 2009, ‘11 and ’12, is the reigning World 9 Ball champion as well as back-to-back winner of the 2010 and ’11 US Open. “I’m delighted to finally be playing with Karl and the main reasons are that we have a great record playing doubles and winning money matches in Philippines”, said Appleton. “We also played great when we won World Team Championships and we’ve also played some doubles in English 8 ball. “We gel together which is very important, and he listens to his captain! To be in the York Hall will be awesome and myself and Karl have got some great memories from the 2010 Mosconi Cup when we both played well and won our doubles. “It's going to be carnage and England A or B are going to be tough to beat and I for one can't wait. I’m convinced this is the year England finally triumphs.” Blackpool-based Boyes will be making his second appearance in the event having partnered Daryl Peach in 2010 when the England side were ignominiously dumped out of the competition by France. “I am very happy to have been invited me back to play in the World Cup of Pool,” said the 2010 World 8 Ball Champion. “In my eyes Matchroom sports events are the pinnacle of our sport and when I don't play in them I find it hard to concentrate all year round. So to be back with an opportunity and with my long time friend Darren has given me the boost I needed. “I feel myself and Darren could well be the first English team to pick up the title. When you have the best two players from England playing with each other, it's a dangerous combo and the other teams will know this,” he added. England B will be announced next week as well as other stars from the world of pool who will be competing in the event. ----------------- world ranked no 1 and current world 9ball champion Available for exhibitions & coaching www.darrenappleton.com [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2013-07-18 20:08 ]
