BowlCircus Finnish Open 9-ball

We have already opened a website for the event, www.finnishopen9ball.fi, which is at the moment only in Finnish, but we're on top of translating it and getting the English version of the site up later this week, Friday the latest.

The tournament itself will be played on 30-31 May 2009 in Vantaa, Finland, 2 minutes from the Helsinki-Vantaa international airport. The main event will be played with 32 players. The venue is located in a big shopping center, Flamingo, with restaurants, cinema, night clubs, a big spa and a high quality hotel. The venue itself, BowlCircus, is a bowling and pool hall, which will be modified for the main event. Finals will be also televised on national sports channel.

"Read More..." for the details.

The event will host 8 qualifiers throughout the spring 2009 and the dates (and most of the venues) for our qualifiers are as follows:

Date Venue
17.1.2009 Vantaa, Shootout Billiard Bar
7.2.2009 PoolGarden, Tampere
21.3.2009 Aura-Biljardi, Turku
4.4.2009 Calle Biljard & Bar, Vaasa
5.4.2009 Blackpool, Järvenpää
12.4.2009 TBA
29.5.2009 BowlCircus, Flamingo, Vantaa

Each qualifier will let 3 players thru to the main event. We are still working on inviting 4 players directly to the main event, so far Mika Immonen is confirmed. After this we also will draw four "lucky losers" from all the participants of the qualifying tournaments to win a spot in the main event.

Qualifiers will play a race to four, alternate break and round robin format, with last 16 players playing a single knock-out.

The last qualifier is on Friday a day before the main event, planned specially for international players. We will of course provide everyone with hotel information etc as soon as we get our prices.
