Local favourite Craig Osborne takes Ipswich Masters 2008 title

2008 Ipswich Masters Results

The mention of a cup of tea with bacon sarnies for breakfast and a free buffet lunch, along with some top class 9-ball action was too inviting to miss, so at 6am on a Sunday morning I was in my car, driving through the pea-soup-thick fog on my three hour journey to the Ipswich Masters along with 36 other pool mad souls, plus their assorted friends and girlfriends.

I'm glad I did too... The club is a splendid, airy and light affair with a huge glass frontage and vast playing area. It seems like an age since I've seen everyone and it's been a fun day already.

Farewell Nigel

This will probably be the last time we all see Nigel Francis for a long while... His stint in the UK is up and he is returning to the States for good in the near future.

He will be based in Virginia and has said that if we visit the US Open (almost always held in Chesapeake, Virginia) that we should let him know we're coming and he'll roll out the red carpet.

Nigel has been an avid supporter of the smaller American pool events all around the UK and his lively personality will be sorely missed.

We will still be able to keep in contact with his future antics on Facebook, and he says he will holiday here ocassionally, but until then it's "bon voyage" to one of the most fun and friendly players on the UK pool scene.

All the best of British luck Nigel.
