Bigger Prize-Money For 2009 Ireland’s 8-Ball Pro-Am

Ireland’s Invitation 8-Ball Pro-Am Pool Tournament which is regarded as the biggest 8-ball pool tournament ever to take place in Ireland will be returning to the province next year once again with the 2009 event bigger and better than ever with the prize-money increasing from £7,400 to £9,000 with the winner receiving a cheque for £3,000 moving up from £2,500 last year and not forgetting the beautiful crystal trophy.

This prestigious event and fantastic weekend will take place from Friday 27th February - Sunday 1st March 2009 played at the Lough Erne Hotel, Kesh, Co. Fermanagh and the organisers will be inviting 16 of the worlds top players which is eight more than last years event with a few well known professional snooker players included in the line-up.

The tournament organisers have also added a new £1,000 Scotch Doubles Shoot-Out event to the weekend which sees the 16 invited players partnering a Irish player (limited to 16) in a fabulous tournament organised for local and Irish players with the winners receiving the £1,000 winner takes all cheque.

Format:
All players in the main pro-am tournament is drawn into groups of five played in a round format with the top two players in each group progressing to the knockout stages ( last-48 ), when they will joint the 16 invited professionals in the knockout stages.

Any player who doesn’t come out of the groups or doesn’t make-it into the ¼-finals gets free entry into the £1,000 plate competition.

Winner: £3,000
Runner-Up: £1,500
Semi-Finals: £1500 (2 x £750)
¼-Finals: £1,000 (4 x £250)


Plate Tournament:
Winner: £500
Runner-up: £250
Semi-Finals: £250 (2 x £125)


Pro-Am Scotch Doubles - £1,000 Shoot-Out:
The organisers has added a new £1,000 Shoot-Out Event taking place alongside Ireland’s Invitation 8-Ball Pro-Am Pool Classic with 16 local Irish players partnering the 16 invited players in this Scotch Doubles event with the winning team receiving the £1,000 winner takes all prize-money………..Irish players will get first opportunity to partner one of the professional invites through direct entry or coming through one of the open qualifiers inside a closing deadline and then it will be open up to everyone………


Poker:
Also taking place over the weekend at Ireland’s Invitation 8-Ball Pro-Am Pool Classic will be a number of Texas Hold’em Poker Tournaments on the Friday and Saturday nights……..

7-30pm:     Over 40’s Open Pro-Am Qualifier ------ (straight - knockout)
9-pm:         Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament


Saturday 28th February 2009:
10-am: Pro-Am round robin group matches ( 8-groups --- 10am session)
9-am: £1,000 Pro-Am Doubles Shoot-out ---(invited player & Irish player)
12-pm: £1,000 Pro-Am Doubles Shoot-out --(invited player & Irish player)
3-pm: £1,000 Pro-Am Doubles Shoot-out ---(invited player & Irish player)
6-pm: £1,000 Pro-Am Doubles Shoot-out ---(invited player & Irish player)
3-pm: Pro-Am round robin group matches ( 8-groups -- 3pm session)

All involved with Ireland’s Invitation 8Ball Pro-Am Pool Tournament would like to congratulate last years champion Gareth Potts on becoming World Champion once again in Blackpool putting in a fabulous performance over his fellow professionals, and hopefully Gareth will be returning to defend his title.
