Ireland’s Invitation 8-Ball Pro-Am

The organisers met-up last night Wednesday 6th February 2008 in the Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan to make the draw for the 2008 Ireland’s Invitation 8Ball Pro-am Pool Classic with all groups now completed.

The official group draw will not be released until Friday 15th February 2008 as there is still a few entry fees to be paid from Irish players.

Group Seeding:

The only seeding that will take place for this pro-am tournament will be one invitation seed placed in each group.

The following players listed below have been given a group seed in the round robin group stages with five places given to players from the Irish Pool Association and Ireland’s Pub Players 8Ball Pool Tours with details in brackets why they received it, and all group seeds and the official group draw was drawn at random.


12-noon Session:

Group 1: Mark Selby

Group 2: Stephen Dempsey

Group 3: Jason Twist

Group 4: Pat Holtz

Group 5: Manny Byrne (winning 2008 N. Ireland Open Pub Players Championship)

Group 6: Alan Mc Bennett ( Number one ranked on Ireland’s Pub Players 8Ball Tour)

Group 7: Barry Hough (2007 All Ireland Champion on Irish Pool Association)

Group 8: Pat O’ Kane


5-pm Session:

Group 9: Mick Hill

Group 10: Darren Appleton

Group 11: Gareth Potts

Group 12: Ross Mc Innes

Group 13: David Mc Quillan (2007 All Ireland Pub Players 8Ball Champion)

Group 14: Ronan Mc Carthy

Group 15: Jason Shaw

Group 16: Sean Conway (2007 World Junior 8Ball Champion---Irish Pool Association)


Group Format:

Each player will play each other in own group.

The top two players in each group goes into knockout stages.

All group winners will play a group runner-up in there first knockout match. (open draw).


Knockout Stages:

There will be only one draw made for the knockout stages (no seeding).

All group winners plays a group runner-up in first knockout match (last-32, open draw).


Rules:

A full list of rules for the event will be advertised on the notice board in the tournament venue.


Open Qualifiers:

All players are reminded, if anyone is thinking of entering any of the open qualifiers in the following categories men, ladies, under-16 and under-19 for places to get into the main event should do so A.S.A.P. because once the draw is made for these qualifiers no one will get entering.
