Souquet, Reimering and Jans win in Weert,

On Saturday night we had a special challenge match between Ralf Souquet and Niels Feijen. They played for a winner takes all 1500 euro first prize. It was a one way match, as Ralf only missed 1 single ball! He beat Niels Feijen 13-4, and never allowed him to get in the match.

"Read More..." for the details.

Christian Reimering from Germany won the men's event.

The men's tournament was a German showdown, the Weert Open always attracts a lot of Germans, because it is close to the German Border. And them Germans can play!
31 Germans in the last 64!
16 Germans in the last 32
10 Germans in the last 16
6 Germans in the last 8
And the semi-finals were all Germans.

Darkside Gareth Esprit tried to qualify 5 times and eventually did qualified for the last 64. There he had some good results, reaching the last 16 where he eventually lost 9-7 to World Pool Master Thomas Engert, after an impressive bankshot from the German at 7-7!

Young Stephen Lammens from Belgium beat Niels Feijen in their first round in the last 64 8-6.

Christian Reimering (GER) shot 8 racks in his 9-0 victory in his last 8 match against Helmut Heck.

Only Belgiums Noel Bruynooghe and Marcus Chamat could reach the last 8, where they also could not hold off the Germans violence.

Eventually it was Christian Reimering who won a nail-biter final frame against Oliver Ortmann claiming the 4000 euro first prize

Belgium's Wendy Jans with her trophy.

In the Womens tournament it was former World Snooker Champion Wendy Jans (BEL) all the way. She won her quarter final 5-1 and shot 4 racks in her semi-final against Katrine Jensen from Denmark.

Eventually she beat German Ina Jentschura 6-4 and won her second title in 3 years.
