Great Britain's Junior Team collect silver at the EPBF's Youth European Championships.
Photos, results and vital statistics from the 2007 Youth European Championships!
More than 180 players from 25 countries gathered together in Willingen, Germany, to take part in the European Pool Youth Championships.
Straight Pool didn’t cause any sensations. Albin Ouschan (AUT) who was supposed to be the favorite of the Juniors’ division brought sadness to the crowd of German fans by beating Nico Wehner. The strongest Straight Pool player among the pupils was Manuel Ederer (GER) and among the girls it was Sabrina Naverschnig (AUT) who reached the top of the podium.
The tears burst out when German Kim Christin Witzel made a mistake and decided the destiny of a very tough hill-hill battle with Rachelle Meyer – 4-5. Stephen Lammens from Belgium became the 8-Ball champion in the Pupils’ division, and Nico Wehner cheered up his fellow countrymen by winning the Juniors’ final.

The championship was ended by the most dramatic day. In the Juniors’ division doing extremely well during other Saturday games and being 7-4 ahead in the final British player Thomas Ainsworth Smith lost to Germany’s Stefan Nolle 7-8. Then there were the Teams’ finals with Great Britain playing against Austria. Everything was decided by the last match of Straight Pool in which Albin Ouschan triumphed over Ainsworth Smith by 100-90. In the Pupils’ division gold medals were gained by Team Russia. In the Girls’ individual matches Sabrina Naverschnig made one of her best performances of the championship and overcame Kim Christin Witzel with an 8-6 result, and Russian player Roman Pruchai in a breathtaking final defeated his opponent from Poland Bartosz Rozwadowski.
On the 27-30th of November the arena of Sauerland Stern Hotel in Willingen will greet the players once again turning into the venue for the World Pool Youth Championship.
