Ouschan beats reigning World Champion and finishes second!!

After the disappointing result at the world championship in Taiwan two weeks ago and the bad start in this tournament by losing to Jeanette Lee in the first round, the 21 year old Austrian earns her spot in the elite of women's billiards by finishing in second place.

In the first TV Semi-Final match (ESPN) Ouschan crushed the two weeks old world champion Xiaoting Pan (CHN) with a flawless performance and a clear 7:3 Score.

In the final Ouschan faced the former Snooker World Champion, and Nr. 3 in the current WPBA ranking Kelly Fisher who won this event in two consecutive years. Ouschan, who beat Fisher at the World Championship, started with a few unforced errors which gave Kelly Fisher the chance to take a rapid 3:0 lead.

After this nerve-racking start the balls were not rolling Ouschan's way and Fisher took the opportunity to win her third San Diego Classic in a row with a hefty 7:0 score (details:

"All in all I am satisfied with this result. First I was able to kick the Nr. 1 ranked player of the WPBA out of the tournament and then I beat the new World Champion as well. Tough matches like the final can happen and I just have to cut this match out and focus on my next goals and then the balls will roll my way again."

Ouschan and her coach will stay in the US until the big show-down in Las Vegas (Enjoypool.com Open; 13-20 May 2007) where the Austrian is the defending champion.

Ouschan beats Fisher and proceeds to Semi-Finals!

Day 3 at the WPBA's San Diego Classics and "losing is forbidden" as all the remaining players enter the single elimination stages of the competition.

The Austrian Jasmin Ouschan started the morning session in grand fashion in the one-loss-side quarter-finals with a sovereign 9:4 victory over Angel Paglia from the US.

With a devastating 9:0 result in the single elimination "Last 16" stage against the surprise player of the tournament Janet Atwell, Ouschan went straight to the Quarter-Finals.

In the Quarter-Final match Ouschan faced the top favourite player of this tournament Allison Fisher.

Fisher, several times World Champion and most successful women player of all time has swore revenge after losing in the final last year against Ouschan in the BCA Open in Las Vegas.

Untouched by this statement Ouschan continues the good performance from her last match and does not give Fisher much air to breath. With pool playing of the highest level Jasmin Ouschan wins game after game and earns an 8:2 lead over Fisher.

After missing a match winning 8-ball, Fisher was able to make three more racks, but the English player's come-back was not to be, as with the alternating break format, Ouschan took her next break to run-out and win this match with a score of 9:5.

In the Semi-Finals tomorrow Ouschan has another big player to face:

Reigning World Champion Xiaoting Pan from China.
