Great Britain owes a debt of gratitude to the BWPPA's wheelchair players after Daniel Luton grabbed the first GBR Gold Medal at the European Pool Championships 8-Ball division, trouncing former champion Henrik Larsson from Sweden with a dominating 5-2 score. Larsson beat Britain's Roy Kimberley in the Semi-Finals so Kimberley adds to the British Medal haul with a bronze. In the Men's 8-Ball division, in a clash likened to the "hare and the tortoise", Malta's Tony Drago sped all the way to the final only to fall at the final hurdle in what turned out to be a rather one-sided match with Germany's Oliver Ortmann. The German champion adds yet another European 8-Ball Gold to his collection, and Drago had to settle for Silver after the decisive 8-3 score.
