Yorkshire man Darren Appleton is the first player to qualify in Fujairah, UAE.
Pro9.co.uk is proud to be the first web site in the World to announce the news that "Dynamite" Darren Appleton has won the first of ten scheduled qualification tournaments for the 2007 Damas WPA World 8-Ball Championships.
It's 1a.m. in the United Arab Emirates and we've just got a phone call direct from the Qualifier Tournament Director Doug Gordon telling us that we're the first to know. The phone was handed to Darren Appleton who mentioned the high quality field saying, "I beat a Filipino in the semi-final, and then I had to beat another Filipino in the final!"

Tournament Format
All matches are RACE TO 5 with alternate break – single elimination.
All players who sign up for the maximum option can play in up to 5 events. These will be drawn at random and players are not allowed choice of groups. The restrictions are outlined below.
The cost of the maximum option is $112 US.
Only the top 32 non qualified players can enter Event 10. Maximum 32 players with non filled spots coming from the ranking list. There will be an additional fee of $30 US for this event.
Players may enter individual events but there is no guarantee of places being available.
THE TEN QUALIFIERS
Will receive a spot in the final stages (last 64) of the Championship where they are guaranteed $500 US.
They will also play in THE AMIR 9 BALL INVITATION which carries a prize fund of
WINNER $500 2nd $250 3rd $125 4th $125
only open to 10 qualified players plus the 6 highest ranked non qualified players
