The 8-Ball Battle of Scandinavia

The 8-ball Battle of Scandinavia has drawn the attention of more than 90 international players, and to kick-off the tournament on Wednesday at 12:00 PM local time we have picked a match from group 3.

Marcus “Napoleon” Chamat will face Thorsten “The Hitman” Hohmann in a race to 5, and this match and all the matches below can be seen live on www.bwin.com. You will have to open an account at Betandwin to get the livestreaming, and this you can do easily and for free.

Watch live BETandWIN (Bwin) broadcasts from Norway!!!

The tournament will be played in 12 groups, and 4 players from each group will proceed to the knockout stages, in total 48 players. The 12 group winners and the 4 players with most Break & Runs who finish second in their groups will proceed directly to the last 32, while the other 32 players will fight to get a chance to meet them at Saturday. The knockout stages will be played best of 5 short sets, race to 3 alternate breaks.

Tuesday daytime there will be the Norwegian Invitational, 8 players playing a single KO tournament where all matches will be recorded and broadcast on Viasat Sport1 in Norway, over 14 weeks. The players in this tournament are Nick van den Berg, Thorsten Hohmann, Line Kjorsvik, Lars Harald Riiber, Roger Lysholm, Artem Koshovyy, Joakim Haugen and Marcus Chamat.

On Tuesday evening there will be a qualifier for the Grand 8-ball Master in England 10th – 12th of March, with a limited and full field of 32 players, and a price fund of £15,000. This qualifier is one of last 2 chances for players to join that tournament, and players as Hohmann, Chamat, Ivica Putnic, Kevin Becker and more will try to get that spot.

During the whole week there is a Straight Pool Challenge, 30 mini-tournaments in 7-ball, 8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball, ring-games and a handicapped 9-ball tournament on Sunday, and also a qualifier for the next Eurotour in Chezk in February, only open for the losers of the group stages.

On Wednesday the first rounds of The ElbowRoom 9-ball Invitational will start, a tournament with 16 players battling out for a 6 000 € to the winner. The players are Niels Feijen (Ned), Nick van den Berg (Ned), Jharome Pena (Phi), Roberto Gomez (Phi), Kevin Becker (Ger), Thorsten Hohmann (Ger), Vincent Faquet (nothing), Kim Garmark (Nor), Marcus Chamat (Swe), Karl Boyes (UK), Raj Hundal (UK), Imran Majid (UK), Darren Appleton (UK), Mick Hill (UK), Joonas Ohtonen (Fin) and 1 spot that is still open.

Oliver Ortmann had originally that spot, but unfortunately he had to cancel his participation because he was unable to re-schedule a team match in Germany. This meant that also Christian Reimering had to cancel. During the last weeks there have been more than 15 cancellations from the tournament, mainly because of the World 8-ball Championship Qualifier organized in Holland few days earlier.

However, it is a very strong field that will play for the title in Norway. Watch the action at www.bwin.com
