BALTIC POOL LEAGUE FINISHED QUALIFICATION ROUNDS IN KAUNAS

The final qualification event for the Baltic Pool League 2014 main tournament was held the last weekend in a gorgeous ENTRY Pool Club in Kaunas, Lithuania. On the contrary to the last stage this time the last 8 in the men's division was quite colorful and won by Vladislav Les. However similarly to last event the women and oldboys bracket was dominated yet again by Anna Prisjaźnuka. The game format was this time 8-Ball.

Men's division international last eight

Surprisingly there were no Latvian players in the last eight and actually it is the first time this season the event to finish like that. Nevertheless having five different nations (Belarus, England, Estonia, Finland and Lithuania) representatives out of six possible in the quarter finals is a perfect culmination to the qualification rounds.

The first semi final match, between Mark Mägi (Estonia) and Vladislav Lev (Belarus) saw one of the best comebacks in the history of Baltic Pool League. Mägi seemed to be cruising comfortably towards the final when he got to the hill and Les having scored only once. Suddenly the road got bumpy for Mägi as Les started to close in and finally managed to win 7:6. It would have been a dream tournament for Belarus with an all Belarus final. However Mindaugas Śalkauskas had other plans. The dream was broken heavily when Śalkauskas crushed Vadim Papish (Belarus) by a score 7:1 and progressed to the final. In the final it was Les that shined and made to a comfortable 7:3 victory. Once again it must be stated that the custom of the winner of the men event does not loose a match was yet again confirmed as Les did not lose a match.

Prisjaźnuka continues the winning streak

It was a great day for oldboys as for the first time one of the oldboys made to the final. The new hero for the oldboys is Gintautas Danilevićius (Lithuania). The way to the final was not an easy task for Danilevićius as he had to overcome another oldboy Ojars Blezurs. The final score of 6:5 says it all about how close the match really was. Prisjaźnuka made her way to the final with flying colors as she took a comfortable win 6:3 over Diana Tracević. The nailbiting final was yet again won by Prisjaźnuka by a score 6:4. By this she made a very serious statement and history as she has made to each of the four finals and winning two of them in this years qualification rounds.

Final event held in Riga

The Baltic Pool League 2014 final with 32 best men and 16 best women and oldboys players will be held on 22. November in Riga, Latvia. The venue is the brand new BAMS Pool House. The overall qualifying round in mens division was won by Domas Mineikis (Lithuania) and in women division naturally by Anna Prisjaźnuka. Nevertheless in the final event everyone start from an even position and therefore it is anyone game.
