Baltic Pool League 2014 kicked off in Kaunas

This weekend kicked off the Baltic Pool League 2014 season. The venue was Entry Pool Club in Kaunas, Lithuania and the discipline 10-Ball. The first winners of the 2014 season are Konrad Piekarski (POL) and Tatjana Vaitkiene (LIT).

Lithuanians ruled but failed to win

In the men's division with a field of 64 players, Lithuanians were the most successful country to grab six of the first 8 finishes. However it was Konrad Piekarski from Poland that triumphed by beating in the one sided final Lithuanian Domas Mineikis 7:1. Piekarski played solid for the whole event and earned the win as the most racks that anyone was able to get from him was only three racks. In his semi final Piekarski won over Daumantas Dieninis (LIT) by a score 7:2. On the way to the final Mineikis was convincing by leaving his fellow countryman Marius Ganusauskas with a donut as he won 7:0.

Tatiana Vaitkiene showed class in women's and senior's field

This year the organisers took a decision to add seniors to the women's field in order to raise the quality, number of players and thrill of the event. They had no reason to regret their decision as it were women that still topped the rankings. In the thrilling final were two of the heavyweights of Baltic pool, Anna Prisjaźnuka (LAT) and Tatiana Vaitkiene. It was the latter one that managed to pocket the decisive ten ball and take the final with a score of 6:4. In her semi final Vaitkiene overcame Simona Miliśauskaité (LIT) with a score of 6:2. Prisjaźnuka met in the semifinal the only senior, Valdis Kleinhofs (LAT), to reach the award ceremony. She was on the top of her game by winning the semi final 6:2.

All together participated 80 players from Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden and Spain.

The event is sponsored by Strachan, Mezz Cues, Biljardai, Kamui, Aveiras, Entry, Baribal Pool Club, Bams Pool House.
