Event 4 Report

The Total9ball Amateur Series rolled on to Event 4 this Saturday (22/03/2014). The jackpot was increased to a whopping £630 but unfortunately again it wasn’t won. The jackpot will continue to increase until one player wins both sides of the draw taking the Winners, Runners Up and the accrued jackpot prize money.

28 players competed in what was Total9ball’s 53rd event in its successful 4 four year history. The field of players was bursting with talent all looking to lift the beautiful T9B glass trophy at the end of the event. Again we had many new faces but also some old faces from years ago including Martin Correia.

Unfortunately Mark Parker had some bad family news on Friday evening forcing him to miss his first event for well over two years. As there has been a Total9ball baby born, Mark has been taking on extra duties during the events and taking the equipment home. A massive thanks goes to Mark for keeping yesterday’s event alive by bring all the equipment to the Hurricane Room before leaving shortly after to be back at home with his family.

T9B Amateur Series event four began shortly after 10am with lots of players keen to impress and dreaming of leaving the Hurricane Room later that evening with a pocket full of cash. Ever consistent Courtney Symons began this event with a good win over disabled World Champion Aslam Abubaker 7v4. Courtney looked to be playing some great pool after a four month break away from the game due to many social events. Courtney’s two lives didn’t however stay intact for long as he ran into the player of the day Dean Reeve and was defeated 7v2. Dean has recently had his table re-clothed and re-rubbered in his purpose built out house in the Godalming area of Surrey. Dean certainly has the 9ball bug back and the hours he is putting in on the practice table showed as he was the player closest to snatching the Jackpot at this event. Dean continued to play completely in stroke until he met Courtney again in the Semi Final. After a cracking match which included 4 break and runs from Courtney. Dean's day was ended 7v5 and Smeucci Kid Courtney Symons gained revenge for the earlier 7v2 defeat and booked himself yet another T9B Final place. Paul McMichael seems to have upped his game with a good win over England player Del Sim. It has been said by many that Paul is just a few confidence boosting wins away from showing what he can really do at the table in competitive play. Current T9B Amateur Series ranking leader Rattapol Sassmann has had better days at T9B events, he didn’t have the kindest of draws though as his day was ended early by Dave Evans and Tony Burton. T9B founder Phil Wildman also struggled in this event, Phil found himself 6v1 down against Chris Bryant in no time at all, Phil showed a great fighting spirit to battle back though to achieve a 7v6 victory. It was the same story but a different ending for Wildman in his next match against Neil Margossian. Phil again traillled but this time by a 6v2 score line, again he battled back to 6v6 but this time was defeated by a confidence boosting clearance by Margossian at hill-hill. It was great to see Gary Bullocke back playing after a hand operation. Gary seemed to be playing well after his long drive up from Somerset. Bullocke recorded some good results defeating Ramesh Gokhul and new T9B player Ricky Collett (from -1v6 behind to 7) Bullocke then really upped his game to send friend of his Martin Correia home in the Quarter Finals. Colin Connor playing in his first T9B event was another player who made a long trip in the morning from Norwich to be involved in the UK’s best Amateur 9ball Series. Colin got the better of Del Sim in round one and although that was his only win of the day he was full of praise for the series, the venue and the organisation of the event and said he can’t wait to come and compete again.

We now move on to the Semi Final stage of this event and as we know from earlier in this report Courtney Symons prevailed 7v5 over Dean Reeve. The other Semi Final ended in the same score line. Fabio Severo another new player to T9B at this event proved his class as he battled though under pressure against Gary Bullock 7v5.

So the Final of this event was to be contested by Courtney Symons and Fabio Severo (a video of this match will be available soon) Courtney began this match on -1 racks as a handicap but was in no mood to even allow Fabio to test him. Courtney was in top gear as he romped home a 7v1 winner. Well done to both players though as they both impressed throughout the event recording some excellent results and both fully deserved their place in the final of yet another brilliant Total9ball event.

About The Tour

The new Total9ball season is here and the Amateur Series is back for its 5th successive season and we must say it looks better than ever. During the close season T9B have secured a fantastic new sponsor of Dynamic Billiards. We are proud to have Dynamic Billiards on board and I’m sure you the players will enjoy the enhancements this sponsorship deal will add to an already brilliant series. Adding Dynamic Billiards to our superb current sponsors Hurricane Room, Kamui, Sanctuary Cues, Rileys and Ultimate Breakmasters shows The T9B Amateur Series is clearly the UK's biggest and best. Make sure your apart of this season, I promise you wont be disappointed.

Last season we used the 2x double chance format for a second season and again it worked very well with players gaining the maximum value money and getting the opportunity to play 9ball using one of the most fresh and exciting formats to ever hit UK 9Ball. This season we have decide to stick with the popular format and expect this season to be more popular than ever.

The T9B 2x Format

T9B double chance events seem to be the most popular format we use, we believe the reason behind this is because it offers unbeatable value, players are entered into the draw twice which means players can lose a match but still be the overall winner of the tournament, it guarantees each player a minimum of two tense knock-out matches and also means each entrance has the opportunity to get in the prize money twice. Feedback regarding these event has always been brilliant and therefore we feel using this format is the way to get the most players involved. Win all your matches and you can collect the Winners and Runners up prize money... a very nice days work. A beautiful glass trophy is awarded to the winner of each event and also to the overall winner of the rankings after the five event series.

Side Events

The break dish will continue as a roll up. The break dish roll up was first used at T9B events last season and as it wasn’t won the pot has now accrued to £100, this amount will increase each event until it is won. Raffle tickets will be sold at each event for £1 for 3 tickets. All money collected will be added to the pot. After the first round of matches two tickets will be drawn at random, the first player drawn will have the opportunity to break and dish the balls to take the pot. If unsuccessful the second player will get the opportunity, if the second player also fails the pot will roll over to the following event.

Rules

**A legal 3point break must be made
**If a player makes a Golden break or combos the 9ball into the pocket, the 9ball will be placed on its spot and the player will continue his turn.
