University Pool Season Preview 2006-2007
The Universities Pool Council is pleased to announce the details of its programme for the coming season with competitions to decide the champions at individual, team and representative level.
This season’s Home Nations Championships are recognised by the British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) joining the Eight-ball Championships which already enjoy BUSA recognition as a full BUSA sport.
Click on "Read More..." for the details.
The season begins with the Nine-ball Championships over the weekend of 1-3 December at Solihull where Warwick will be going for a hat-trick of team titles. Attention then switches to Eight-ball with the Championships in February. This season sees the introduction of a Shield level below Championship/Trophy to cater for new teams and those not currently strong enough to compete at the higher level which provides all teams with meaningful competition. The Women’s Eight-ball Championship rounds off the season in March where attention will be focussed on whether any one can challenge Oxford’s dominance of this event.
English Universities will be on home soil this year as they attempt to defend their BUSA-UPC Home Nations crown and, for the first season, trials will be held to select the players which should ensure the very best players will be on show.
